Falling Elithics
(Makornik Remix)

Press Info:
Functional and stable four-to-the-floor, with touches of iconic melodies and catchy rhythms. It’s a first timer for a Brazilian artist to feature on the label, but certainly a memorable one. KaioBarssalos hits the spot just right between driving techno with proper uumpf and snappy hypnotic synth riffs.

‘The Castle’ is a track with cleverly programmed delay on the lead. The melody is nostalgic and melancholic at the same time, making the track particularly suitable for home-listeners too.

Saturnian System has the acid and high pace in it’s groove. The short stabs and acid holds the drive, lead by tensive pad harmonies.

We get why Amelie Lens recently supported one of his releases, because for dance floors they seem very effective. Nothing is different in Falling Elithics, faster rhythm, higher notes.

Spreadless with Wesley Martins packs the dirty acid sounds with a dry pounding kick and Makornik reimagines Falling Elithics in a more repetitive way, an effective synth groove working its way up to a full-blown warehouse tool.

04.
The 2nd Coming
(999999999 Remix)

Press Info:
A statement to the inexhaustible puissance of Marc Acardipane’s ahead-of-his-time genius, our thirteenth instalment takes us for a one off and wildly enjoyable detour via the classic hardcore scene to reignite the fires lit by two seminal and thoroughly essential bangers from his immaculate back-catalogue, remastered to their full potential. First in line, the originally 1996-released ‘A New Mind (Cold Rush Phuture Mix)’ proves it’s lost nothing of its implacably pinning, gravity-defying impact. Slowly but surely obliterating all will in you to resist the forthcoming tide in a blaze of whooping 909 punishment and screeching tyres, the second half finishes us off in a euphoric explosion of seesawing bass stabs and poly-octave rollercoasting. A raging anthem of its own recorded in ’92, ’The 2nd Coming’ picks up the flow and amps up the horsepower to weave a frantic ballet of steroid-infused sines, molten circuitry and all-devouring drums. 28 years on and counting, where are the disciples at?

Flip sides and here’s The Hague’s duo Ghost In The Machine taking on Rave Creator’s ‘A New Mind’; steering the original further deep into murky industrial rave waters. Emphasising on elements lifted from the track’s uplifting finale, the Dutchmen’s buildup aims at striking hard and striking sure. A no-frills, rugged-as-it-gets weapon of sorts, the revamp’s all set at plunging the dancefloor into the most dystopian of scenarios. Commissioned to add their big-room-ready spin to Mescalinum United’s time-proof ripper ’The 2nd Coming’, Italian outfit 999999999 (read NineTimesNine) unleash a fierce whirlwind of 303-brined pyrotechnics, light-fast machine-talk and breakneck old-school dynamics. The result is a brain-melting slice of hardcore techno tailored for extensive jump-around workouts. If some artists have a hard time staying relevant as decades succeed, this is further evidence that Acardipane’s sound retains the untamed, fiery brilliance it had back in the day, when it revealed to a whole generation of young ravers a world they could never have dreamt about.

This one in particular deserved a special, duly outstanding frame to shine, which is why it comes pressed to 180g audiophile quality vinyl, and clad in a pristine, silver metal package to please your eyes and ears in equal measure.

Press Info:
UK electronic stalwart Debasser readies his second LP, ‘The Invitations Are Real, The Party Is Not’ on WIDE Recordings this June.

Drawing on inspiration and experience from a wide range of scenes including UK Bass, Breaks, Jungle, Electro, Garage, and more, Debasser follows up singles ‘Separation Anxiety’ and ‘Bad Behaviour’ with his second long-player ‘The Invitations are Real, The Party is Not’ via his WIDE Recordings imprint in June.

Lead track ‘Bad Behaviour’ harks back to the fertile ground of early Jungle & Drum & Bass, while ‘Separation Anxiety’ brings ravey stabs and sharp breakbeats to the table. ‘Funny Noises’ leans on electro stylings around bombastic 303 work, and ‘Pork Scratchings’ sees a dose of the absurd with entertaining vocals atop raw, mechanical instrumentals.

‘One Sock Saturday’ gets gritty with a robust 4/4 pattern over bleeps and warped bass, leading into the bright and airy ‘Parodise Lost’ before ‘Humpty’ heads back into heavy territory with wobbling bass and vocal cuts. Offering some calm amidst the storm, ‘Through The Woods’ marries swirling ambience with clicky percussion and fluttering synths, before ‘A Little Rough’ ups the tempo once more, running delayed piano stabs over rough low end and breakneck drums to close out the album.

Active throughout the early 000’s on labels such as NovaMute, Input Output, and Seed, as well as playing at Andrew Weatherall’s Haywire parties, Debasser has been pushing machine-funk and bass focussed UK music for close to two decades. Founding WIDE Records in 2006, the label has released music from Paul Blackford, DJ Slugo, Egyptrixx, Chrissy, and more.
