Chlär delivers his debut record for SHDW & Obscure Shapes’ Mutual Rytm imprint.

Emerging as artist of note for both now and the future, Chlär continues to craft and shape his sound as he curates his own high-octane approach to techno. Combining dynamic performances taking in three and four deck mixes with his own up front productions and his talents as a former mastering engineer, the Swiss talent has become a respected name amongst his peers. After releases on Lobster Theremin and his own Bipolar Disorder imprint, the Berlin-based DJ, producer and label boss heads to SHDW & Obscure Shape’s blooming label Mutual Rytm to deliver six precise and powerful cuts across his ‘Optimized Groove’ EP.

“As the names states, ‘Optimized grooves’ is a collection of tracks designed to match specific parts of the event/night. From ‘Night Genesis’ at the origin of the night through to tracks like ‘Maximum Performance’, a peak time bomb, and ‘Spirit Enhancer’ – an uplifting and warm production elevating individuals to higher labels after hours of spiritual connection'” – Chlär

Opener ‘Early Morning Acceleration’ sets the tone early and dives into a looping ride through slinking hats and bustling arrangements – combining classic influences with forward thinking touches to reveal a dynamic slice of techno. Next, ‘Maximum Performance’ fuses swelling low-ends, sharp percussion and vibrant leads, while ‘Love Blaster’ delivers an all out fiesta armed with rolling drums, sharp whistles and rich chords. On the flip, B1 ‘Night Genesis’ sees hypnotic loopy vocals balanced by tough kicks and luminous synths, before ‘Spirit Enhancer’ showcases a soulful trip as resonant electronics work around the track’s tunnelling groove. The digital EP comes with a bonus exclusive production in ‘Synaptic Discussion’, a euphoric and impactful closer which brings things to a close firmly in the peak time hours.

Arriving hard on the heels of his Lobster Theremin debut, Swiss-born, Berlin based techno artist Chlär prepares the first ever release of Welcome to the Loop World with four devastating cuts of furious and fun pounding rhythms.

Honing his skills as part of the Swiss free-party scene, Chlär has exploded onto the Berlin soundscape with his futuristic blend of break-neck electro, old school trance melodies and typically noisy grooves, with regular appearances coming on Berlin’s leading streaming platform HOR catching particular attention thanks to his skilful, precise and high velocity blends.

‘It’s a Common Thing’ is as subdued as it is raw; an unapologetically in-your-face energy with emo-vocal samples and tense, swirling sonics that allow no room for rest. ‘The Tribe’ begins with high-filter kick and wooden instrumentation that quickly evolves into a full-scale bassfest; not for the faint-hearted.

The manipulated synth-strings of ‘Staying True’ make for a contemporary-classical take on the typically black-and-white techno format, creating something new and exciting that is distinctively Chlär, before ‘Right Mood Supplier’ swaps harsh noise for something a little more progressive; wriggling basslines and jump-up-and-down energy creating something punchy and fun.

SHDW & Obscure Shape welcome Alarico back to Mutual Rytm as the Italian delivers a medley of diverse techno cuts across his latest EP, ‘Boya’.

Arriving fresh from an impressive twelve months with releases via the likes of Token Records alongside his notable self-production only mixes, Italian DJ and producer Alarico continues to grow as a talent on the rise within techno. Combining nuances from across the genre to shape his own fast-paced and raw yet soulful sound, the Milanbased talent hasn’t slowed down since launching the alias in 2019. Having featured on the label’s VA ‘Federation Of Rythm I’ earlier this year, he now returns to SHDW and Obscure Shape’s blossoming Mutual Rytm imprint for his first EP on the label – delivering eight cuts across both digital and vinyl for ‘Boya’.

Kicking things off with the rugged and loopy ‘AE86’, Alarico quickly gets to work fusing driving grooves with slick vocal interjections, while title cut ‘Boya’ veers into slightly more raw and metallic territories guided by snappy claps and resounding kicks. ‘Killa Cut’ brings the funk on the B-side as soulful vocals ebb and glow amongst the mix, with ‘Lost In Time’ offering up pulsing bass beneath ethereal vocals, sweeping melodies and lively hats. The vinyl package is wrapped up by ‘The Ballad of Lisa’, with the infectious bleeping topline leading off-kilter clangs, slightly offsetting the track’s tight core groove.

With three bonus tracks on the digital package, the Italian continues to bring the heat with ‘God Bless Hip Hop’ providing yet more punchy, skipping rhythms accented by rich chords. ‘Cigarettes After Sex’ carries a more manic and chaotic arrangement yet still manages to hold the track together amongst murky flutters, before closing the show via ‘The Rush Hour’ to deliver warping, arpeggiated basslines and a constant battle of tension and release.

South African-born, energies blended in from multiple continents, ranging from Africa and USA to Amsterdam where she currently lives. It’s safe to say she brings home some widespread vibrations, and to the label.

Lee Ann Roberts joins the Märked family with an excellent 5-tracker EP where acidic sounds are mixed with old-school influences in the originals, to the typical bold warehouse style of the remixes.

The acidic sound in Acid Reflux makes it easy to get lost in tunnel vision, crackling and straightforwardness until the end. Guilty Pleasure tickles the nostalgic muscles back and forth with bright and contagious synth-play, building up to an anthemic climax.

Expanding on the original mix, Brecc keeps the simplicity of the acid notes. The Brecc sauce is gradually applied yet heard from the first kick, with steel clashes and screeches building up to after the break.

Additionally, Kaltblume surprises with an energetic and mysterious stereo-piercing techno blaster. Rounding off at a higher pace with the T Y remix of Acid Reflux, where the build-up part of the lead synth is translated into a bright and fast piece of rhythm, closing bridges between 2022 techno and early hardstyle of 20 years ago.
