CASSEGRAIN & TIN MAN are a deadly combination. Old school acid lines programmed by one of the greatest masters in this field meet a super modern techno sound design by Cassegrain, who have made themselves a name in the last years for producing some of the finest in dark and experimental techno.

For the follow up to their debut release on KILLEKILL they have put together three tracks that are outstanding.
HIGH & LOW is a slowly swelling minimalistic acid epos of over 10 minutes length which proves the mastership of Tin Man in programming acid loops of eternal quality. 8 beats length only, but constantly evolving. No chance for boredom. The B-side starts with SEX KIT, a dark acid stomper with a chirping percussion which is well suitable for the peaktime dancefloor, followed by SAND MAZE, a sublte minimalistic ambient acid piece, that winds its way into total dissolution.

We are quite sure that this is the way acid should sound in 2013.

On the 9th of December, South London’s Shades Recordings will release four weapons-grade industrial darts from nascent heavyweight Manni Dee. Having made his name and honed his production skills genre-hopping, Dee has lately put away childish things, turning heads with an uncompromising, serious and upfront take on techno which has won him support from the likes of Tripeo, Perc & Blawan and gigs across the UK and beyond.

The EP, named for Sartre’s 1943 treatise, explores Manni’s fascination with the liminal space between noise and music, and the question of how far things can be stripped back for them to still resonate with our primitive core; the ‘being’ Sartre refers to. This is particularly evident in lead track Loop84, which sets a lean palette of angular technoid sounds against chest-rattling kicks and broken ambient structures to produce a rock-hard warehouse stormer.

Follower Objective Form maintains the toughness, this time injecting some acid into skittering breakbeat patterns, while Red Paint on the Roses takes things into blistering 4/4 territory, all intense darkside drums and seething buildups. Final cut Eroded Viewpoint draws influence from all of the above, whipping sharp metallic drums, acid stabs and garbled samples into a fizzing heads-down industrial electro workout.

Being and Nothingness will be released in a limited vinyl run of 50.

Darkfloor Sound’s third release comes from David Meiser. Hailing from Zaragoza in northeastern Spain, Meiser’s style of techno is dark, verging on paranoid.

We pressed 300 copies, each comes with an embossed, numbered and autographed card inlay.

‘Addiction to Darkness’ – is huge. It’s the slayer. Nothing sounds quite like this. Those acid lines, the atmospherics. Early support from Dave Clarke, Blackasteroid, Inigo Kennedy and DVNT.

‘Soviet Rules’ hooks you in – militaristic in build and drive – that bell is haunting.

On the flip we’ve Meiser’s take on tribal with ‘Know Your Roots’ and its hypnotic percussion.

Finally we have ‘Transcending Your Fears’ – an eerie, stripped cut. Perhaps the bleakest offering on the EP.

All told, this is some of the best techno Meiser has recorded.
