Revered producer and composer Daniel Avery today announces Tremor (Midnight Versions), a new imagining of the album arriving digitally March 6th 2026. Remixing the entirety of the record himself, Avery presents a nocturnal counterpart to his acclaimed sixth studio album Tremor, with a collection of darker, club-focused reworkings, drawing the record firmly into the late-night hours.

Tremor (Midnight Versions) continues the world Avery created on Tremor, reframing its material through a techno lens and speaking directly to the dancefloor. Stripped back, intensified and retooled for the strobe light, these tracks channel Avery’s long-standing relationship with club culture while maintaining the emotional weight and textural depth that defines his work.

“For every tremor there’s a reaction. These are the Midnight Versions,” says Avery. “Songs reimagined and sent directly into the night. Club edits aimed squarely at the strobe light.”

Two Midnight Versions have already surfaced at the end of last year, ‘Rapture In Blue’ & ‘Greasy Off The Racing Line’, offering a first glimpse of this shadowed universe. The full project expands on that energy, positioning itself as a vital bridge between Tremor’s expansive, collaborative spirit and Avery’s enduring techno lineage.

The announcement lands alongside news of a month-long DJ residency at London’s Phonox, happening every Friday in March. Lineups will be announced at the end of January with tickets on sale tomorrow at 10am. The Tremor (Midnight Versions) remix album will be released to coincide with the opening night of the residency, marking a focused moment for Avery’s club output and reaffirming his connection to the dancefloor. It follows Avery’s landmark sold out show at the Barbican in November last year, which saw him combine his thunderous electronic productions with a live band into “dancefloor oblivion” (The Times). Additionally, live dates have been announced for Glasgow and Dublin.

Forever a supporter of the underground, Avery will also be curating a night of new music at The Shacklewell Arms on 15th January as part of their Friend Crush series. The event will see live performances from a trio of Daniel’s favourite new bands: Pearl2, wing! and DEK.

“I’m so chaotic in love,” sings Katie Austra Stelmanis on “Amnesia,” the cinematic opening track of Chin Up Buttercup, the fifth album by her alter ego and longtime pop project Austra. You know Austra’s astonishing voice – singular and operatic, it betrays a fearlessness and sophistication. She’s the woman you’d be afraid to approach in a bar. Her voice draws you like a siren to the dance floor as the beats build toward the hypnotic chorus of “my life is not the same without you in my arms.” Listen closely and you’ll hear a vulnerability that sets this album apart from her earlier work. This is a grief album you can dance to.

Stelmanis and co-producer Kieran Adams shared a mutual love of pop divas, Eurodance and hard-to-find techno. Madonna’s 1998 album Ray of Light, produced by William Orbit, was a key influence in the later stages of album making: “Ray of Light was produced almost entirely on a Juno-106 and a Korg MS-20 which we’d been using, so the reference point was aligned,” says Stelmanis. The album sounds like a mix of hypnotic dance floor anthems and elegant melodies to soothe your broken heart.

Channelling every corner of his sound, the record is a bold and transportive body of work through euphoric shoegaze, submerged techno, ambient soundscape and industrial bliss. It remains unmistakably Avery,yet dramatically evolved. Arriving via his new label home, Domino on October 31st, Tremor is introduced with the release of its lead single ‘Rapture In Blue’, featuring the ethereal vocals of LA-based artist, Cecile Believe.

On Tremor, Avery has welcomed an inspiring cast of collaborators, including the likes of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yuné pinku, and Cecile Believe. Each artist leaves their indelible mark, yet the record’s true power lies in the communal spirit at its core.
The first taste of that spirit is felt in ‘Rapture In Blue’, a slow-motion breakbeat that lifts Cecile Believe’s otherworldly vocal into the stratosphere while celestial guitars are supplied by Ride legend and current Oasis member Andy Bell. It’s a track that perfectly encapsulates Tremor’s cinematic power and Avery’s mastery of melding ambient beauty with thunderous force.
An immersive and deeply textured journey, Tremor unfolds like a lucid dream—an expansive, collaborative creation. “This is a living and breathing collective,” says Avery. “Since the earliest recordings, Tremor felt like a studio in the sky, a space in time through which we could all pass as artists” he reflects. “It’s the welcoming spirit of acid house with the doors flung open wider still to allow in every influence from my musical journey: the warmth of distortion, the stillness inside intensity, the transcendental beauty of noise… They have always been there in my music but now it feels like those ideas are being transmitted in Technicolor. This is a record for the post-rave comedown kids, the guitar heads and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride. Everyone is welcome.”

Tremor marks Avery’s debut on Domino, one of the most brilliantly free-thinking independent record labels in the world. The album was mixed by sonic visionaries Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails) and David Wrench (FKA twigs, Frank Ocean), and mastered by Heba Kadry — each a vital pillar of the Tremor creative collective.

A new live show will also debut with the record, the first run culminating at London’s prestigious art space the Barbican on 8th November.

Avery’s work continues to expand across disciplines: from his acclaimed reconstructions of The Cure’s DRONE:NODRONE, to his role in the experimental supergroup Demise of Love alongside Working Men’s Club and Ghost Culture. It follows his previous studio album Ultra Truth, which was widely acclaimed by fans and critics alike.
