Albert van Abbe has been on our list since the very first party in November 2013, so we are more than happy to finally welcome him behind the DJ-Decks at Escapism. He’s been a key figure in the Dutch electronic music scene for more than 15 years, constantly reinventing himself and pushing boundaries not only with his labels NoComment (now defunct) and Vanabbe but also with his party series DRUM in his hometown of Eindhoven.
Paris has gone through quite a change in the last couple of years. Thanks to key figures like Francois X and DJ Deep and to clubs like Concrete and Batofar, the city’s techno scene regained its former strength. One of Paris’ rising new talents is BLNDR. Thanks to his releases on Hypnus and Annulled Music and his connection to Blocaus, he sparked interest in his music all over Europe and maintains a busy tour schedule by now.
One of Berlin’s best kept secrets, Abayomi has been flying under the radar of most people for some time. In 2016 he managed to turn some heads though with releasing tracks on his own Abayomi-Imprint as well as Reclaim Your City. His music is of a rare quality, combining bleak sounddesign with soulfulness and funky percussive elements.
As always, Manuel Münster will step up to the DJ-booth as well to take care of his Resident-DJ duties. With a knack for deep, reduced techno he’ll close the party in an appropriate manner.

Since its inception in November 2013 Escapism is dedicated to promoting uncompromising high quality techno. As an addition to the regular club nights, it is now time for Escapism to turn into a record label with the first EP by our close friend Głós being scheduled for release on July 8th (see “Related Release”). To celebrate the release Głós will perform an exclusive live-set.
Eduardo de la Calle is one of those people who have never strayed off the path they have set for themselves. His devotion to underground electronic music has earned him massive respect amongst his peers as well as regular clubgoers, while his releases are flawless masterpieces full of subtle details and emotions. We are very much looking forward to his DJ-Set and are convinced that it will be as diverse and enchanting as are his productions.
One could argue that without Joy Division Techno would not be the same that it is today. This is most certainly the case with Głós. His music shares with Joy Division all those melancholic elements and latent aggression that made their legacy last. While he found early success with “Cut Throats”, 2016 will see him reach new heights. His beautifully fragile Ambient-EP “Filling The Scars With Light” already made heads turn and his upcoming EPs for Escapism and Ravage will surely end up in a lot of “Best of 2016”-charts.
THNTS may have only appeared on the Berlin scene two years ago, but he sure made his impact since then. Having been jointly responsible for the now defunct Apathy-series, he currently focusses on establishing the event series ESCH in Berlin while still being committed to bringing quality techno to Braunschweig with the Styx-Series.
As always, Escapism resident Manuel Münster will close the night with a driving, deep and emotional take on techno. With 6 years of experience and countless DJ gigs in the city’s various clubs he also holds down a coveted residency at Berlin’s home of techno, Tresor.

Escapism is back with its eighth edition on April 15th, staying true to its premise of inviting only artists that are known for their impeccable taste.
You probably could write several essays on what makes Lakker unique. Ever since the Irish duo appeared on the techno scene in 2007 they have steadily been working on a sound that is unmistakebly their own. This not only lead to them calling legendary label R&S Records their home, but also their releases on James Ruskin’s famed imprint Blueprint and the Monad-Series on Stroboscopic Artefacts are a testament of their abilities.
Every once in a while you’ll come across an artist whose sound is obviously funded in techno, but his approach goes far beyond the usual genre limitations. Daniele Antezza has been making waves in the scene since the advent of Stroboscopic Artefacts as a member of the reclaimed duo Dadub and as a cofounder of Artefacts Mastering. Listening to his releases as Inner8 it’s easy to identify years of experience as a music producer and a mastering engineer. And he does what every true artist should do: instead of resting on past achievements, he strives for new and unexplored territory.

Lately there has been a lot of talk about Leipzig’s most recent attraction: the Institut fuer Zukunft (IfZ). With all the hype surrounding the club it’s easy to forget what it takes a club to be truly outstanding. Which are resident-DJs that know their trade and live up to their responsibilites. One of IfZ’s renowned residents is Solaris, whose diversity and quality have gained her an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of Leipzig. She will take care of the warm-up duties and create just the right mood for the things to follow.
