Press Info:
Terence Fixmer has shared a brand new remix by German techno powerhouse Marcel Dettmann, a reworking of ‘Evolve’, one of the stand out tracks from Fixmer’s recent album, THE PARADOX IN ME, out now on Mute / NovaMute.

‘Evolve (Marcel Dettmann Remix)’ will feature on a new EP, Magnetic North, set for release on 16 July. The three-track EP also includes a remix of ‘Another End’ by German techno producer / DJ, and founder of Recorded Things imprint, Oliver Rosemann and a new track, ‘Magnetic North’, which explains Fixmer, “serves as a bridge between THE PARADOX IN ME and the sound of my future album, which will be lean towards the club, and be more techno, and hypnotic with raw sounds.”

Talking about long-time friend and occasional collaborator Dettmann’s remix, Fixmer explains, “Marcel chose ‘Evolve’ to remix, he always likes tracks when I put my voice to it. I love the way it starts with a dubby direction, before developing into electronic club sequence and bringing on the voice. Marcel is so creative, it’s an honour to share this remix.”

The new EP arrives on 16 July along with an extended edition of THE PARADOX IN ME, Fixmer’s second album for Mute / NovaMute. The new edition features three new tracks, ‘In Synthesis (Vocal Mix)’, ‘Razor Sharp (Version Two)’ and ‘Close to You (Live Version)’.

On THE PARADOX IN ME Fixmer stretches the limits of dance music by interlacing evocative, cinematic electronics with pounding, peak-time 4/4 pulses. “There’s always a fight between directions,” he says. “This album represents all the sounds I have within me.”

Fixmer burst onto the scene in the late 1990s, establishing the Planete Rouge label in 1998, and releasing a slew of influential 12″s under a pseudonym before Muscle Machine, his acclaimed debut album which pioneered a new genre that merging the sounds of EBM and Techno.

Not long later, he achieved a personal milestone, collaborating with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy for two albums as FixmerMcCarthy that bridged the gap between EBM and classic techno. And since then, he’s barely stopped for breath, remixing personal heroes like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and Depeche Mode, as well as respected peers such as Ellen Allien, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke and Sven Väth, simultaneously building up a canon of work on CLR, Electric Deluxe, Ostgut-Ton and of course, Mute and NovaMute.

Fixmer’s passion for electronic music hums from every note and carefully engineered beat on the Magnetic North EP, and extended version of THE PARADOX IN ME, which plays almost like an autobiography, and assembles a world that’s tactile and strikingly visual, capturing the soul of the synthesizer in all its forms.

Press Info:
Sony Music Entertainment will continue the Depeche Mode 12″ vinyl singles project with the release of Spirit | The 12″ Singles on 20 September 2024.

Spirit | The 12″ Singles, a collector’s edition deluxe box set, contains seven 12″ vinyl discs including custom replicas of the original three double 12″ singles from Spirit (Depeche Mode’s 14th studio album): Where’s the Revolution (originally released 3 February 2017, in advance of the album), Going Backwards (released 23 June 2017), and Cover Me (released 6 October 2017).

As a bonus for Depeche Mode fans, Spirit | The 12″ Singles premieres a special seventh disc: the first-ever 12″ vinyl pressing of the band’s legendary Highline Sessions, recorded live in New York City on 3 August 2016. The most complete recording of Depeche Mode’s Highline Sessions ever released in any format, this five-song 12″ vinyl single includes DM’s galvanizing cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” (celebrating the anthem’s 2017 40th anniversary) and two previously unreleased performances of songs from Spirit: So Much Love and Poison Heart.

Depeche Mode’s Spirit | The 12″ Singles comes in a numbered limited edition housed in a deluxe slipcase including seven 12″ 180g vinyl discs, riveting artwork recontextualizing original album covers, a replica poster and download card.

Depeche Mode recorded their Spirit album from April through August 2016 at Sound Design in Santa Barbara, California and Jungle City in New York, working for the first time with producer James Ford. Released through Columbia/Mute on 17 March 2017, Spirit was the last Depeche Mode studio album to feature founding member and keyboardist Andy Fletcher before his passing on 26 May 2022.

Sony Music Entertainment released the first two box sets in the Depeche Mode 12″ singles series–Speak & Spell | The Singles and A Broken Frame | The Singles–in August 2018 with the second batch–Construction Time Again | The 12″ Singles and Some Great Reward | The 12″ Singles–arriving in December 2018. SME released Depeche Mode’s Black Celebration | The 12″ Singles and Music For The Masses | The 12″ Singles on 31 May 2019. 2020 saw the release of Violator | The 12″ Singles in July and Songs Of Faith And Devotion | The 12″ Singles in October. The ninth collection in the series, Ultra | The 12″ Singles was released on 27 September 2021 with the tenth volume, Exciter | The 12″ Singles, arriving on 10 June 2022. The 11th volume in the series, Playing The Angel | The 12″ Singles, was released in November 2022. 2023 saw the release of Sounds Of The Universe | The 12″ Singles in August with Delta Machine | The 12″ Singles following in September.

Each box set in the series contains the singles from an individual Depeche Mode album pressed on audiophile-quality 12″ vinyl. The artwork for the exterior of each of the box sets draws on iconography inspired by the original releases, while the vinyl sleeves themselves feature the original single artwork.

Spirit | The 12″ Singles is chronologically the 14th volume in SME’s Depeche Mode 12″ Singles Series and the first to include a bonus 12″ vinyl disc premiering previously unreleased tracks.

Vinyl7-A2 & Vinyl7-A3 are previously unreleased.

Press Info:
Terence Fixmer announces details of his brand new album release, THE PARADOX IN ME, and accompanying limited edition 12” vinyl. This is his second album for Mute / NovaMute, and follows the releases of his PARADOX EP series, which shared tracks from the record across specialist digital music platforms.

Throughout his influential career, uncompromising French producer Terence Fixmer has straddled a precarious line, master-minding his own strain of taut, dancefloor-ready techno while simultaneously paying respect to the EBM sounds that helped crack open his mind as a teenager. On THE PARADOX IN ME Fixmer confronts this duality, stretching the limits of dance music by interlacing evocative, cinematic electronics with pounding, peak-time 4/4 pulses. “There’s always a fight between directions,” he says. “This album represents all the sounds I have within me.”

The 12-track album’s launches with ‘In Synthesis’, a scorching dark techno EBM track, that serves as a potent introduction to the album. Straight to the point and brimming with the kind of raw, all-electronic grit that the artist has inked into an idiosyncratic signature over the last two decades, but there’s a fresh narrative thread this time around, brought to the surface by Fixmer’s hypnotic sound design and atmospheric, soulful melodies.

Fixmer burst onto the scene in the late 1990s, establishing the Planete Rouge label in 1998, and releasing a slew of influential 12″s under a pseudonym before signing to DJ Hell‘s International DJ Gigolos and unleashing Muscle Machine, his acclaimed debut album which pioneered a new genre that merging the sounds of EBM and Techno.

Not long later, he achieved a personal milestone, collaborating with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy for two albums as FixmerMcCarthy, that bridged the gap between EBM and classic techno. He channels all this experience into THE PARADOX IN ME, building a world that reconciles his past and present. The essence of the album is the way it effortlessly presents tracks with different kinds of energies and artistic facets, each track has a strong presence, and a unique soul and energy which comes from a place that is specifically – and recognisably Fixmer’s.

This limited edition 12” serves as an accompanying piece to Fixmer’s brand-new album. The vinyl features 6 dark electronic tracks from the record, all infused with his signature energy and thoughtful sound design. This comes with an audio download code of the full-length album.

Fixmer’s passion for electronic music hums from every note and carefully- engineered beat on THE PARADOX IN ME. He’s created an album that plays almost like an autobiography, and assembles a world that’s tactile and strikingly visual, capturing the soul of the synthesizer in all its forms.
