Info:
It’s been over a year since the Planete Rouge graced our fair roster, which is why we’re pleased to welcome Terence Fixmer back into the EDLX fold with ‘Bells’.

This is the fifth stand-alone EP from him for Electric Deluxe, on top of his last LP ‘Comedy Of Menace,’ and offers three more exquisite samples of what the techno veteran does best. Almost a counter-point to Fixmer’s last EDLX release—the dubby, warmed through ‘When The Sun’ EP—‘Bells’ is a homage to the pitch black dance floors of the night, with all his hypnotism and industrial hues in place.

“Bells” opens right in the thick of it, with alarm knells and viscous vapours swirling round a lasso loop that will hook you until sunrise. “In Chains” is it’s raw cousin—just as dark, unsettled, and riled with analogue sounds. But as midnight begins to dip into eternity, closer “Subspace Two” offers up a lasting sunny reprieve. The EP ends on a serotonin-soaked moment where dub, techno and house close their eyes and sway as one. ‘Bells’ is a versatile record, which sees Terence Fixmer cater for every nocturnal occasion.

Press Info:
This special Planete Rouge EP series kicks off with the re-release of two classic tracks taken from Terence Fixmer’s first album ‘Muscle Machine’, which was originally released on DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolo Records in 2001.

This acclaimed debut album spearheaded the fusion of modern techno and EBM. In particular the tracks ‘Warm’ and ‘Rage’ both combined the raw and dark atmosphere of EBM with the energy of driving techno.

On ‘Relapse Volume 1’ the re-mastered original versions of these two tracks are accompanied by remixes from Sandwell District’s Regis and Planete Rouge’s own Alexey Volkov.

Regis (Karl O’Connor) hands in a sinister, looped-up version of ‘Warm’ replete with ghostly samples and a dizzying groove, while Alexey Volkov turns his hand to ‘Rage’ delivering a deep, thumping remix that plays with frequencies and a squelching bass.

The release also features artwork by gifted visual artist, Pierre Debuscherre (www.pierredebusschere.com).

Look out for more in the ‘Relapse’ series, coming soon to Planete Rouge.

Lovesick
[feat. Cormac]

Info:
Another intriguing release by one of France’s most distinctive and prolific electronic music artists is coming out on CLR. On the present EP Terence Fixmer delivers three brand-new tracks which vibrate with imagination, quality and depth, proving once again why he has been at the forefront of the Techno scene for more than ten successful years.

The first track and a-side of the vinyl entitled “Psychik” is a straight forward, ruthless piece of Techno, fulfilling each and every need of the dancing crowd. With its dark, hypnotic and unrelenting vibe it simultaneously challenges, pleases and releases body and mind. “Psychose” is the more moderate but equally strong counterpart, carrying on the deep and mesmerizing atmosphere of its predecessor. The slower groove leaves loads of space for the individual elements to unfold and every single sound acts and shines with its particular texture. And if this would not be enough, in the third track of the EP Terence Fixmer surprises with a completely different facet of his versatile musicianship. “Lovesick” is not only another slick production but also features the sensual and haunting vocals of Cormac, resulting in a unique Techno song which talks about love and pain in a very personal, disarming and poetic way.

Apart from the ever-present focus on musical integrity, also the overall sound has received close attention. Each one of the tracks sounds crystal-clear and deeply absorbing, which is partly due to the fact that Chris Liebing took care of the mix-down and Brian Sanhaji added the finishing touches in the mastering. This common CLR in-house practice has already generated numerous top-notch releases and these tracks are no exception. It has been said that Terence Fixmer´s music appeals as much to the dancing feet as it does to the searching soul, and the present EP clearly confirms this statement.

out now: Terence Fixmer – When The Sun EP [Electric Deluxe]

Artist:
Terence Fixmer

Title:
When The Sun EP

Label:
Electric Deluxe

Cat#:
EDLX022

Release Date:
15th March 2012

Format:
12 inch & digital

Tracklist:
01)
When The Sun

02)
When The Moon

03)
When The Earth

Info:
Electric Deluxe are pleased to announce When The Sun, the latest EP from French protagonist and Electric Deluxe affiliate Terence Fixmer.

Fixmer first cut his teeth on International Deejay Gigolos, aligning his early EBM and industrial-steeped brand of techno with DJ Hell’s cult and audacious label. Teaming up with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy, in 2002 he continued to explore the stylistic union as Fixmer / McCarthy, marrying his coined “techno body music” with the sensuality of pop on records for Synthetic Symphony and his own Planet Rouge imprint. Solo, he has fomented a relationship with Electric Deluxe since his 2009 EP Machine. His sound has persistently bridged the past and present in a tenacious refinement of modern techno, climaxing in his debut long player for the label, Comedy of Menace.

After the skulking Le Terrible, Terence Fixmer plunges deep on his Electric Deluxe return to present new works of lush and dubby techno. As its title suggests opener, “When The Sun”, bounds in on a light and jovial vibe—an instant warmer, arriving just in time to thaw the clench of winter with dreamy pads and a sparkling summer-bleached melody. “When The Moon” is its evening accompaniment, continuing the kinetic energy through to nightfall with a springy, rubber-ball bassline that drives the track home. “When The Earth” concludes on a more Fixmer-recognisable note.

Employing signature industrial touches and dark to spooky atmospherics he delivers another stunning piece of dance floor hypnotism.
