Teaming up for the first time, the techno trio comprising Chris Liebing, Drumcell, and Truncate drop two massive tracks on Liebing’s CLR imprint. With the artists having all previously contributed to the label and appearing on the likes of Droid Recordings, Mote-Evolver, Blueprint, and Mute between them, the combination of talent across the record results in two heavy, mind-bending, and precise techno cuts.

Leading the release, ‘DTL’ brings hard, swinging drums, twisted low-end, and modulating synth lines together for a heavy-hitting peak time bomb. ‘SGV’ sees the three producers meld rough textures and rattling percussion with constantly rising FX, with a trippy breakdown thrown in to keep dancers on their toes.

Chris Liebing announces landmark 100th release on CLR this April The legendary German techno producer drops two originals and a remix from film composer and techno/trance pioneer Ralf Hildenbeutel.

‘Time’ and ‘Sup’ are two fierce and uncompromising techno tracks in the mould Liebing has become known for throughout his career. The remix from Hildenbeutel, a collaborator on Liebing’s LPs for Mute Records and a member of pioneering trance acts Cygnus X and Earth Nation, displays his cinematic composing chops with a sparse, atmospheric take.

Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint started in 1999 and returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Initially titled Chris Liebing Records until 2010, then Create Learn Realize until the break, and now Create Learn Repeat, CLR reemerged in the techno underground with releases from Liebing himself, followed by newcomer Frankie Bromley, upstarts Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr, and DEAS, as well as veteran Luke Slater.

Originally released as a Bandcamp exclusive to restart the enormously influential CLR imprint after a five-year hiatus, the expanded version of Chris Liebing’s gritty and dancefloor focussed ‘Bruson EP’ drops in full as ‘Bruson EP Redux’, featuring a hair-raising remix from Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems.

From his early work in the ’90s through to his incredible Mote-Evolver label, it’s always great to hear what Luke’s working on and it’s a pleasure to have him remix the release that relaunched my CLR label. CLR, now retitled Create Learn Repeat, has released music from Frankie Bromley, Gene Richards Jr, Hertz Collision, and more since its relaunch as Liebing seeks to provide a platform for new and emerging talent alongside his releases.
