Belgium based Border One continues his hot streak in 2019 with the launch of Border One Records. After successful releases on Wolfskuil, Voltage and Escapism in 2019 he now set’s up his own imprint. The label will feature the young producer’s own material and will be pressed on a limited 200 copies 12” run. Artwork done by painter and tattoo artist Ilja Vanhoutte.

The label sets the tone with the “Abyssal” EP that features four cuts made for peaktime dancefloor moments. Four hypnotizing and ever evolving tracks to rely upon.

Belgian native Border One returns to Wolfskuil Records for his second EP. Steven Petit has build a solid reputation for himself as an pure and talented techno producer in just a few years. His music has been rinsed by the who’s who on the circuit. On the Insight EP he offers 4 distinct, diverse but intrically linked cuts in which his modular driven sound reached his full potential.

The EP kicks off with Moon, a relentless tune with a simple but catchy hook and minimalistic shuffling drum patterns that will drive any floor into a frenzy. Phantasmal takes things down a notch with a bleepy affair and thumping kickdrums.

On the flip the title track Insight take things up a notch using the main theme as a sonic elastic, fading in and out without ever reaching an ultimate climax. It’s the understated use of just a few elements, that make it hightly addictive. The twelve finds it’s epic closer in Sakebi. Beautiful dark string chords create an emotional undertone like the sometimes traumatic transition from the night into the day.

The tenth output of Invite’s Choice records is another hard hitting banger made by Border One.

Drumrim´s straightforward four-to-the-floor kick is accompanied by a hard-hitting bass and a repetitive leadsound that evolves throughout the track. The overdriven hihats and rides combine well with the panicky sound. Diffuse goes along with the flow set by the A1 track, yet has a bit more percussive feel to it due to the toms added. Hatchet on the B-side provides an aggressive kick and percussive elements. The sound evolves around one overdriven synth sound that drains you in to the track. Perfect for fast transitions while mixing. Copylust ends the EP a bit slower BPM-wise, but emits the same energy as the previous tracks. Straight-forward, hypnotising, hard-hitting contemporary techno. Another great showcase of the talent harvested by Invite’s Choice!
