OK, lets get this straight. Peach are one of the best pop groups of the 1990’s – you just don’t know it yet.

It’s a simple story too. There are three of them, Pascal, Paul and Lisa. They write, play and, produce their own songs and write lyrics that make a mockery of the colourwashed competition. They make beautiful, timelessly simple, records that touch you when you hear them (remember what that feels like?) – and will still sound fantastic in twenty years time, because they will remind you so specifically of a moment that you will be able to taste it.

Some Peach facts:

Pascal Gabriel is from Belgium. You may not know his name, yet, but you’ll know his music. As co-producer with Tim Simenon and Mark Moore, he has already made some of the most memorable and influential dance music of the last ten years with Bomb the Bass and S’Express.

Paul Statham is from the North of England. He cut his musical teeth writing and recording with Bauhaus vocalist Pete Murphy, which led to a top 40 hit in the USA, ‘Deep’. After five albums, however, he got bored of the world of bats and crypts and decided he wanted to be true to his secret pop heart.

Lisa Lamb grew up in London and Washington DC. She graduated from the Chelsea School of Art and moved back to the USA where she fronted a jazz band and made a jungle record. She published poetry and moved back to London again where, to cut a long story short, she met Pascal and Paul and formed Peach.

And so Peach began to write music that could straddle the disparate influences of each band member – Pascal’s penchant for the singing and songwriting skills of Serge Gainsbourg and Cole Porter along with the modern electronica of Kraftwerk, Stereolab and Jimi Tenor; Paul’s love of 70’s sounds rooted in Bowie and T-Rex and Lisa’s desire to emulate the musicianship of the likes of Roxy Music or Bacharach & David, those greats who reach out and grab you in the guts with their emotion and sheer individuality.

The result? An album ‘AudioPeach’, a debut of love and joy, death and loneliness that creates, in a series of three and a half minute songs, a mix of Dusty, Petula, Spector, Human League and Soft Cell (think lush orchestral sweeps and sweet vocal hooks set to a Europop backbeat) but with a twist of the millenium – ‘AudioPeach’ creates its own niche of timeless music that can be grasped and cherished as much in today’s euro pop world as in the sweet soul world of yesterday.

Peach intend to put pop music back on the agenda, the real life enhancing stuff that makes us turn up the radio, laugh and cry – the future is bright, the future is Peach.
