Music by the Greek Berlin-based producer, Hior tends to be characterized by both cinematic and ambient qualities, but they rarely take on the full pulse of a techno track. That was until he decided to remix Rosa Anschütz’s track, Diopter.

Diopter remix brings listeners straight into Hior’s world from the start; dark, moody and mysterious soundscapes of synth set the tone. By second 30 though, the mystery is revealed; we are thrown into the dancefloor as the ever-accelerating beat picks up pace, “Techno has always been my inspiration in creating music, even if it’s not obvious in my previous tracks. Rosa’s voice inspired me to make it happen,” says Hior of the track.

As the track intensifies, it is Rosa Anschütz’ singing which grounds us; the musician from Zurich has a way with humanising songs with her exquisite vocals. Despite the sense of confusion, and even anxiety, created by distorted drone soundscapes, Rosa’s voice is a bright lifeline guiding us through the chaos. “Rosa is one of the few artists that combine ambient and drone sounds with a warm, straight and honest voice. The first time I listened to Diopter, I was beautifully surprised at how her singing made me feel so warm inside,” says Hior. In a perfect cocktail, Diopter remix harmoniously encompasses the dichotomy between haunting and emotional vocal-led synths, and enthralling, rhythmic techno beats that drive the track forward.
