Press Info (Englisch):
Today sees the release of a new single, “Wake,” from Brooklyn-based Chrome Sparks. “Wake” highlights Chrome Sparks’ (Jeremy Malvin) penchant for creating florid orchestral electronica that can turn on a dime into an explosive beat. The track premiered via Thump who note, “The track’s centerpiece is a blipping pattern of synth droplets, evocative of vintage Moog compositions by Raymond Scott. Over the course of the track it’s interpolated into a dramatically evolving series of melodic phrasings, ranging from dopamine-deprived to blissfully sultry.” Malvin told the magazine, “This is the first track to come to fruition from a month of secluding myself in a cabin upstate. It was strange up there, as I had never before alienated myself to such an extent. I had a desire to create something simple and pure, which is how the main synth line came to be (as a sine wave, the most simple and pure waveform).”

“Wake” is being released via Counter Records and marks Chrome Sparks first piece of new music since last Fall’s “All Or Nothing” single. He will be performing at this year’s SXSW Festival – including a day party co-presented by his label Counter Records and tastemaker curatorial platform Majestic Casual – and touring Europe in April. Dates are below.

The shows mark Malvin’s first live appearances since a Fall tour that included both headlining shows and select dates as the support for Flume (that including stops at the famed Red Rocks Ampitheatre and NY’s Forest Hills Stadium).

“All Or Nothing” rose to #1 on the No Remixes Chart and landed #2 on the Hype Machine Most Popular Chart, mimicking the success of Chrome Sparks’ 2012’s “Marijuana.” Further, “All Or Nothing” has to date 450K Spotify plays and was added by influential YouTube channels like Majestic Casual and CloudKid.

Chrome Sparks first burst into electronic music consciousness in 2012 with “Marijuana,” a Bandcamp compilation track turned Internet phenomenon (organically rocketing to #1 on HypeMachine and racking up over 18 million cumulative streams to date). Since then he’s released three EPs via Future Classic (including subsequent breakthrough track “Moonraker”), remixed Chet Faker, Porter Robinson, Fred Falke and Blackbird Blackbird among others, and played sold out shows throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Along the way he’s converted a legion of supporters to his deftly hybridized sound, including Pitchfork, Dancing Astronaut, Indie Shuffle, and FADER. He can also count Annie Mac and Triple J as supporters on radio and fellow music-making champions in Bonobo, Laurent Garnier and Anna Lunoe. His classical training in percussion lends a strong beat-centricity to his productions, and his background playing in bands manifests itself in carefully considered live performances.

Press Info (German):

„Bliss On The Other Side Of Alienation“, schreibt das amerikanische Thumb-Magazine.
