Info :
Land Observations aka London based artist and musician, James Brooks, is releasing his debut 7″ vinyl EP and also recently made his debut live performance at the Roundhouse, as part of the Short Circuit Presents Mute, festival, on 13 -14 May. The release sees Brooks exploring the relationship between layered, repetitive Electric 6 string guitar and motorik rhythms, via an interest in the concept of historic roads. The EP is a taster for a full-length album of layered guitar compositions inspired by the major Roman roads that existed in Britain & Europe.

This limited edition, numbered pressing on coloured vinyl features hand-finished sleeve art, each one meticulously worked on by Brooks himself, thus bringing together his interest in repetitive music and visual art.

James Brooks recorded a number of releases for Mute Records over a six – year period, as musician, writer and arranger in the band Appliance. During this time he recorded 4 BBC Peel sessions and played alongside artists such as – Wire, Goldfrapp, Pulp, Low, Piano Magic and Murcof. To date he has performed at amongst others, Meltdown festival, London, Sonar Festival, Barcelona, International Guitar Festival, France and The ICA, London.

James Brooks has exhibited Internationally as a visual artist in New York, Miami, Paris, London, Berlin, Ireland, Norway and Frankfurt.

He lives and works in London.
