Info:
The History Survivors EP is a fierce collaboration between two of electronic music’s most intriguing producers, Lucy & Silent Servant.

Entering the production process together Luca Mortellaro and Juan Mendez delved into a period of studio based research. On the trail of a hybrid sound they rendered their questions with both digital and analogue machines, synthesising their suspicions into existence and layering sounds until they took on unmistakeable form. Two tracks emerged and Mote-Evolver has pressed these dark tales onto each side of the Mote034 vinyl.

A-side Dormancy Survivors begins with a metallic rasp and opens out into a euphoric state. It’s as if a story that was long repressed is finally being retold. And this story is told in syncopated sentences that are punctuated with slanted snares. Odd bleeps rotate around the weight of the bass-line and strange atmospherics catch you brilliantly unawares. This is an industrial-strength peak-time track.

Victors History is expansive and hypnotic. Pulling you into its loops the track is littered with glimmering asides. Low frequencies tug at the undercarriage and heighten the damage that the bass is committing. If the A-side tells the tale that history neglects, the B-side asks you to question the narratives weaved by the winners.

Mote034 combines the expertise of two producers at the top of their games. Silent Servant’s expert handling of noise and distortion and Lucy’s ability to create narratives where you least expect them form a startling hybrid. History Survivors is an EP that will move your feet, your thoughts and most importantly your expectations.

(Hreno & The Mole’s MHMD Remix)

Info:
Marco Freivogel’s first solo release provides a fresh direction for this seasoned producer. Marco will already be known to those in the techno world for his live project Exercise One, with his partner of 10 years Ingo Gansera. As the full time producer of Exercise One, Marco has released records on Mobilee, Wagon Repair, Cocoon and their own Exone & Lan Muzic labels, as well as remixing everyone from Shackleton and Peter Van Hosen to Sian and Dapayk & Padberg. But in the last few years Marco has been producing behind the scenes on a number of new projects for artists including Tiefschwarz, Dave Vega, Mama and Elif Bicer, and collaborating with friends on new music, such as last years stunning EP as Exercise One vs Mathew Jonson ‘Lost Forever In Happy Crowd’. This 12″ for Souvenir in 2013 will be the first solo release, but Marco also has plans later in the year to introduce his new live solo techno project that’s inspired by his early musical days playing in industrial bands.

The original ’11am (before)’ is a winding house track, featuring the vocal talents of Elif Bicer, who’s previously known for her work with Ben Klock, Prosumer and Steffi. For ’11am (after)’ Marco strips back the melodies and toughens things up. The remix comes courtesy of Canadian friends The Mole & Hreno, who deliver a characteristic bouncing rework to get the dance floors pulsing.

out now: Slam + Pan-Pot – Alliance 2 [Paragraph]

Artist:
Slam + Pan-Pot

Title:
Alliances 2

Label:
Paragraph

Cat#:
PARA017

Release Date:
March 2013

Format:
12″ & digital

Tracklist:
01)
Media

Info:
After the success of the Slam + Gary Beck (Alliances 1) release, Slam welcome friends and peers Pan-Pot to the next phase of their ‘Alliances’ series.

Slam & Pan-Pot have shared the stage at many an occasion whether it be at Slam’s Pressure or Return To Mono nights at The Arches & Sub Club respectively, or at the Mobilee Rooftop or Poolside parties, off-Sonar. Pan-Pot have also remixed Slam’s ‘Room 2’ & ‘Lifetimes’ tracks while Slam have reworked Pan-Pot’s ‘Face To Face’ & ‘Confronted’ tracks. Their sounds are well matched, as are their personalities.

‘Media’ brings the drive, swing and melody that both pairs of producers do so well. Twisting and turning through delayed FX and doubling drums, ‘Media’ swells until it hits an epic bass sequence at the tracks half-way mark before dropping back to a stripped groove.

When the two acts combine they are most certainly a formidable force. ‘Media’ is the perfect example of this.
