Press Info:
Geneva based artist and Bipolar Disorder label founder, The Chronics started off by simply playing in his basement for a few of his friends. Rapidly, he marked his success in Geneva by distinctly embodying the unconventional and progressive techno scene. Through his sharp, raw and obscure techno as well as his captivation of the crowd, The Chronics secured bookings around Europe including in London, Barcelona, Paris and a residency at Geheimclub in Germany. But not only, his work ethic and ambition has lead him to found his own label, to involve not only pioneers on the scene but also share his accomplishment with new talents, and most of all : to grow a family.

First Release for The Chronics; this EP is the smart balance between pushy rhythmic and minded synths. Completed by remixes from Exal, MTD (Daytime Version and Late night Version), Lars Huismann, Non reversible and our young and talented Chlär.

Press Info:
Rommek continues his ‘Set In Stone Trilogy’ for James Ruskin’s Blueprint with part two, ‘Sedimentary’.

Each release in the series represents one of the fundamental rock classifications and the track titles are those found within each class. As Rommek states: “Rocks are usually categorised according to their texture, mineral or chemical content. I think this metaphorically relates to how we create music and even classify genres. The natural world inspires me all the time, whether it’s small patterns / textures found in formation and erosion, or a vast landscape. I also find it interesting how nature interacts with the man-made world. This trilogy explores that.” Sedimentary rocks are formed from particles of sand, shells, skeletons and other fragments of material that have settled at the bottom of a lake, sea or ocean. Gradually, the sediment accumulates in layers and due to its disposition, it hardens into rock over a long period of time.

Likewise Rommek’s ‘Sedimentary’ takes things deeper than the previous ‘Igneous’ EP, although still offering plenty of atmosphere and intensity. Industrial soundscapes and menacing bass tones evolve, while the tension of strings captures and keeps a grip on the listener’s attention throughout this second episode of the trilogy.

‘Sedimentary’ is released on vinyl and digitally on 13 July, followed by the third and final part, ‘Metamorphic Versions’ consisting of remixes from key members of the Blueprint team: James Ruskin, OVR, Broken English Club and Makaton, after the summer.

04.
Reliance

Press Info:
Returning with renewed force after Henning Baer’s unbreakable debut LP, MANHIGH’s sixth release comes from a name already well-known in techno circles. Sciahri is the Italian producer whose luminous 2014 debut on the celebrated Ilian Tape’s ITX experimental series immediately announced his presence, followed by another on the label and two EPs for the highly-rated Black Opal offshoot of Opal Tapes by 2016. He was simultaneously occupied with his ambient-leaning UNKNOT duo with Emanuele Porcinai, better known as WSR on Samuel Kerridge’s Contort label. 2017 saw the launch of his Sublunar imprint and a tripartite release from him featuring a more streamlined sound than the craggy broken-beat style familiar from Ilian Tape. Sciahri’s MANHIGH EP opens with ‘Demur’, showcasing his most dour, industrial sounds, scraping metallic highs against the unrelenting impacts of reverberating kicks and subbass drone. ‘Forbidden’ holds its forces more in reserve, the cycling, mechanical soundscape maintaining a spacious, ambient aspect, worked against a broken rhythm more implied than explicitly stated. Returning to full intensity for ‘Reliance’, he tightly coils the core elements around deftly-deployed percussion and a militaristic, pounding rhythm in the bass and kicks. Henning Baer’s reinterpretation of ‘Demur’ saves little from the original apart from its overriding tension, instead adding a layer of nearly-tonal pads and an unremitting acidic bass throb pushing forwards inexorably.

Tension from Bielefeld (Germany) delivers four original tracks, painting large images of a deep and spherical space.
