Subkutan had a decisive influence on the perception of the Leipzig Club “Institut fuer Zukunft (IfZ)” from the beginning due to his personal presence and the special mixture of his sound from wave, industrial and techno. With his debut album “Unwritten” on Hypress Records he makes clear where he comes from and the cross-references to punk and poetry in a contemporary guise could hardly be more charismatic and immediate. The son out of a family of actors uses lyrical quotations to overcome the boundaries of different musical eras, creating a link between the past, the present and the future. With plenty of field recording and spoken words, he shows a multifaceted profile without losing sight of his own sound. Alex.Do (Dystopian, WSNWG), Sylvie Maziarz (Dualism, RAW), Kaltès (Mord) and Kareem (Zhark) underline with their remixes once again the stylistic independence of the album.

It’s time to make Safe Space a home for other artists this year!

The first 9 releases of the label were Ackermann releases only, but from now on there will be Eps by other artists as well and we celebrate this occasion with the labels first VA “Safe Spaces”.

A few of the artists who contribute upcoming Ep releases in the pipeline get their introduction on this VA, which was carefully selected over the course of over half a year and we really took our time to make sure this VA was not just another compilation with randomly placed tracks by cool artists, but tracks we truly 100% love, stood the test of time for us and in combination tell a strong story written by groove ranging from jackin’ to dubby or housier vibes, while not focussing on function solely but on soul and vibes.

Label boss Ackermann sets the tone with the floating ‘Rooftop’ showcasing his trademark tom, chord and vocal stab workout in a windy top of the city vibe. Hotly tipped australian up- and comer William Kiss follows with ‘Yo’ a sub heavy peak time chord roller, designed to make your (safe) space sweaty and Gaven from New York gets the floor ‘Jackin’ in true banger style!

OFF / GRID speeds up the bpm and turns compilation in a more hypnotic direction with ‘Looping Louie’, this guy cant do no wrong at the moment! Berlins Safe Space dependance in form of Black Mirror Park and Antic Soul both perfectly encapsulate the bouncing dub techno vibe we all crave with their tracks ‘Mangroove’ and ‘Naked Space’ and Jancen from Belgium gets even deeper down the dub zone (braze yourselves for his upcoming EP!) before Berlin House heads Jones&Roth close out the album in style with ‘Kleiner Haschi’, a true pearl of silky smooth goodness.

The seventh release on the Berlin based record label INHERIT is coming up – again the co-founders Disguised arranged a selection of their tracks and created a striking EP which is complemented by a remix of the talented producer Ferdinger.

Ferdinger, the labelhead of Life In Patterns is known for his dynamic sound and released more than once on the well known label ARTS. His interpretation of the title track „Ace Up The Sleeve“ is a perfect fit for IHT007. Recurring elements of the originals and his own additions created a remix that evokes an indescribable vibe.

This release introduces the groovy side of the label and shows with full energy how techno can inspire to dance. Besides driving drums, pumping kicks and an irresistible flow, Disguised shows what it means to create a great mood with recurring synths and a perfect track structure. The tracks are not only created for the clubs of this world, but fit on every festival and open airs to round off the sets perfectly.
