Wellen.Brecher is an inclusive band that emerged from the Killekill’s Berlin-based project Ick Mach Welle. It consists of Werner Soyeaux aka Bläck Dävil, Uwe Locati aka DJ Locati, Dave Senan aka Senator and Hanni Kusch, a member of the German punk band Pisse.

After a very busy year 2022 with touring, the band are ready to bring you their debut EP “Hitmaschine”. Included on the release is “Lasst Uns Feiern”, the band’s “Anthem”, a banging rave influenced mega-hit that manages to hit-hard and deep while keeping the overall vibe happy and fun. For his remix, The Hacker radically cuts things back while adding a hefty portion of 90s hardcore to deliver you another “hit”.

On the B side, band member DJ Locati strikes sonorous notes with his vocals, spread over a base of hypnotic acid trance and progressively developing into a deep dive down into a rave tunnel. Rounding out the record is a guest appearance by the band 21Downbeat. Their reinterpretation of Wellen.Brecher’s Tierisch Verboten (which was released as the opener of the “Superbrains” compilation on Killekill) brings a healthy dose of smashing new-wave to the proceedings. Finally, as a digital bonus track, Furfriend goes one even further with a gritty techno remix of Brummbär.

The post-industrial Ruhr-Area has been an indisputable part of Germany´s techno landscape since the very beginning. More than 30 years after technos golden era and after a manifold challenging pandemic, the scene and its sounds are blooming like never before. Ahmet Sisman and his project The Third Room can be described as key factors for both the area´s ongoing, sustainable dedication to electronic music and its current success, being more and more embedded in cultural contexts and society overall.

It’s unsurprising that the first album of Ahmet Sisman, the multitalented artist and man of action, is a well-considered mix of familiar and pioneering sounds, enriched by countless influences within and beyond technos constantly evolving sub-genre scenery. With a sophisticated 50/50 mix of four on the floor strikes and innovative breaks, Sisman manages to hit a sweet spot between raw but groovy, experimental but subtle nostalgia, melodious but noisy.

All this is already worthy of a listen, but placed in context, it perfectly fits the musical approach of the Ruhr-Areas biggest transcendental techno project – The Stone Techno Series and Festival. Like the bound-breaking release series of the last two years, ‘The Third Space’ maintains the metallic and fierce sound vision of a coal mining tradition with everlasting impact. The time travel through industrialization and renaturation continues here with T3R008 and gains a whole new dimension from Sismans skilled handwriting.

Kias is the label off-shoot of Kiss Klub – an ever-consistent club night at Die Rakete and the cream of Nürnberg’s Techno scene. Having made considerable headway with their inaugural release from Ostgut’s Fiedel – the bourgeoning project present the 2nd record in their catalogue; a VA from 4 certified producers: Amotik, Tripeo, Nørbak and Distant Echoes.

Berlin based Amotik kicks things off with a lesson in simplicity. ‘Taar’ works to firmly substantiate the notion that less is indeed more as it gently unfurls behind rich, swooning synth sweeps and a rugged kick drum.

Nørbak then follows up with the aptly titled ‘Hats Going Nuts’ which sets closed and open hats flickering and interweaving over a sturdy, mechanical groove. The low end stays stead while the high end generates the focal point of the track across another cleverly refined production.

Dutch producer Tripeo then follows up with the beautifully jarring ‘Eye Of The Beholder’. Trippy, flexible melodies and luscious chords are propelled by tight, sharpened drums and a deftly arranged structure.

Distant Echoes then concludes the VA with an aquatic sub- heavy jam titled ‘Sommo Carattere’. Raw, metallic tones fall like rocks on to a throbbing kick as melodies slowly but surely gather colour as they unfold. The mood remains moody and stern throughout – the perfect way to cap off the 2nd release from a label proceeding with robust intent.

Novel German Techno label KIAS is the label of Kiss Klub, a long standing club night at Nürnberg club Die Rakete. For the debut EP, KIAS counts with a 4 tracker by Ostgut´s FIEDEL.

This first release is aptly titled ‘Transference’ in reference to the discombobulated personal journey experienced by many artists & creatives since March 2020.

‘Transference’ manages to create a highly danceable, yet slightly dystopian dance narrative, fiercely roaming through a colorful techno spectrum.
