Press Info:
The latest signing on Local Suicide’s imprint Iptamenos Discos is the Greek DJ / producer duo Boys’ Shorts. They’re delivering their new futuristic EP titled ‘New Era’, which includes remixes from Each Other, Lott & Local Suicide as well as Luca dell’Orso. The duo was founded by Thessaloniki-based artist Vangelis, who runs half of the music blog & label LAGASTA, as well as London-based artist Tareq. With two EPs under their belt (“Looking” and “Together”) they also delivered remixes for artists like Kasper Bjorke, Yuksek w/ Polo & Pan, Dharma, Kito Jempere ft. Wolfram to name a few, whilst their remix for Casey Spooner was included in the Red Hot + Free compilation.

“The track was written during the lockdown period when everything looked so uncertain and scary … We were listening to a lot of music from bands as ‘Japan’ and ‘Visage’, talking about the “New Romantics” era, thinking of what will come after this new reality we’re living in. And so “New Era” came as a result of all the relationships that were reconsidered the last two years, to show the importance of human touch and what really actually matters.” – Boys’ Shorts

The track immediately gives off a sense of space exploration due to the sound of the melody being played. While the repetitive bass keeps the track driving as the pads elevate you to a higher level, the drums keep you grooving with delicate knocks and cowbells as the claps work with the cowbells to bring some more energy into the track. There’s a slicing, ‘swoosh’ sound that fills the space of an open-hat which breaks the four bar loop subtly but perfectly. The track’s vocals have a wide sound to them that helps simulate the vastness of space.

The critically acclaimed New York-based duo Each Other, consists of Max Pask & Justin Strauss. Max is part of The Rapture & James Friedman’s label Throne of Blood, while Justin was part of power-pop band Milk ’n’ Cookies. Previously they’ve released their original productions and remixes on labels like Soulwax’s DEEWEE, Freeride Millennium, Correspondant and more. Their version of ‘New Era’ brings a more energetic break-beat style tune that’s more in your face than the original. The synth plucks feel as though they’re jabbing you, trying to get you to move while building up tension. When the next synth comes in the track starts flowing, especially when the hats start grooving along with it. The vocals are clearer and more direct when compared to that of the original. The synth keys that come later resemble that of an organ but still have a futuristic sound to them.

Having released on labels such as Italo Moderni, Wrong Era, Bordello A Parigi & XXX, the Dutch born, Italo-wave-electro producer Luca dell’Orso brings a sense of hi nrg and italo disco to ‘New Era’. Between the sound of the synth and the kicks as well as the use of repetitive kicks, the track puts an awesome and nostalgic twist on Boys’ Shorts track.

Tel Aviv artist Lott, who has previously released on labels like Feines Tier, New Day Everyday, Karakter Records & Belly Dance Services joins up with Iptamenos Discos heads, Local Suicide to create the ‘In The Trance Mix’ of ‘New Era’. The track has a jerking and rolling bass that moves through your body. The percussion and drums are delicate, leaving more room for the classic mind-bending synths that are typical of trance music. The vocals are also super spacey and copped up and add an awesome groove.

Boys’ Shorts and the contributors set out to create a project with the idea of providing a outer worldly experience, that is exactly what they did with each track having its own unique style. ‘New Era’ will be released digitally and on strictly-limited clear 12” Dubplate through Iptamenos Discos on February 25th, 2022.

Press Info:
The latest signing on Iptamenos Discos is the stunning debut EP by Dina Summer that features remixes by Black Light Smoke, Wiener Planquadrat & Time To Sleep. Fronted by Greek native Dina P., ‘Dina Summer’ is a collaborative band project by the producer Kalipo and the DJ/producer couple Local Suicide.

After performing on local radio stations as a teenager, Dina began making waves as one of the first female DJs in Thessaloniki. She later moved to Berlin where she met her husband with whom she formed the duo Local Suicide. The powerhouse has made a name for themselves releasing on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Lumière Noire, Ombra INTL, TAU & more. Through their exploits, Beatport declared them as one of the key figures in the uprising dark disco scene. Around 2013 they met Bavarian born Kalipo while raving at Rock am Ring festival. At the time he was performing at the festival with his band, Frittenbude who are famous in German speaking countries for their unique mix of electro, punk & rap. Kalipo recently released his critically acclaimed fourth long player on KI Records which features artists such as Rampue, Ira Atari, Oberst & Buchner & more.

It wasn’t until 2019 that the trio finally starting working on music together. The result was a unique blend of late 90’s electro with elements of 80’s disco and new wave.

Their first outing ‘Who Am I’ is a new wave / disco-hymn consisting of German & English vocals. They’re accompanied by stomping drums and a beautiful synthesised melody laid over a synth-arp that maintains the tracks momentum.

The Club Version of ‘Who Am I’ is slightly faster and hits a little harder. In this track one can clearly hear the trio’s infamous ‘technodisco’ sound at work. The drums still stomp but with more depth and the synth-arp has a more rugged texture when compared to that of the original version.

The B-Side, titled ‘Fortune Teller’, is a groovy dance-floor bomb with nasty moroder-ish bass-arps, epic strings, spoken word elements and a slick breakdown followed by a banging and cascading drop that sucks in and hypnotises listeners.

Legendary US producer & composer Jordan Lieb aka Black Light Smoke’s take on ‘Fortune Teller’ turns the tune into a deep electro weapon with a wobbling bass-lines that ride perfectly with the drums and groovy synths. The glitchy vocals and the ominous sound of the strings give this track an awesomely dark atmosphere.

Austrian duo Wiener Planquadrat, who recently released their debut single ‘Stillstand’ on Iptamenos Discos, transform ‘Who Am I’ into a masterpiece reminiscent of Soulwax’s iconic sound. This is emphasised by the dirty and bouncy groove, rough tones and drums that are sure to make your body snap along with them.

Croatian producer Time To Sleep, who recently released tracks on Disco Halal, Permanent Vacation & more, delivers a glitchy 128BPM dub techno re-interpretation of ‘Who Am I’ with driving drums and a rolling bass-line that doesn’t let up. It’s filled with warm reverb filled percussion and an ethereal synth lead mid way through that makes you feel as though you’re floating while rounding off the EP in a beautiful manner.

This stunning EP’s versatile sound is sure to attract a variety of listeners and selectors while turning heads around the globe. The EP will be released on a strictly-limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally on all platforms.

Press Info:
The premiere signing on Local Suicides newly founded label Iptamenos Discos is Austrian band Wiener Planquadrat. Consisting of Michael Weiler, former member of Burnin Tears (Luv Shack), and Maximilian Atteneder from bands such as Catastrophe & Cure.

Their single release entitled ‘Stillstand’ is the first ever from the duo with the promise of more to come via Iptamenos Discos. This feel good disco vibes track is built on punchy drums and catchy bass lines that channel the legendary spirit of the 90s Downbeat sound of Vienna. The uplifting flow of the song mixed with playful elements and analogue sounds blend beautifully while austropop-esque vocals float over the top. The lyrics describe a journey from the mountains to the sea and paints the picture that one is driving their convertible with the top down and as the sun shines and lush melodies fill the fresh coastal air.

The single includes a remix by Rising Seed which is the project of Lee Stevens (one of the founders of Luv Shack label) and musician Martin Arnold. Incorporating flutes & 80’s house piano this lively rework is all about letting the good times roll and would be the perfect soundtrack to a tropical beach party that goes until sunrise.

The single will be released with a short edit and a full length club version of the original and the remix on a strictly-limited clear Dubplate 12” and made available digitally on all platforms.

From the stars to the stratosphere comes a new injection of energy from veteran duo Local Suicide. After many years touring the globe and consistently releasing dancefloor crushing tracks the two are launching their very own label ‘Iptamenos Discos’. To ring in the new era they are releasing a new track which was crafted in the 2020 lockdown and will set the stage for what is to come with their brand new label.

IDI001 is an offering from the dark corners of space bringing together spooky drones and spiralling melodies that hover like an incoming force from beyond. Coming from Greek, ‚Iptamenos Discos‘ means flying saucer. The track features an assemblage of their friends chanting this phrase in 23 different languages which adds a lush blend of vocal layers.

Hailing from Greece, Vamparela and her husband Brax Moody from Germany have gained a reputation for their eclectic works across many genres such as dark disco, new wave, indie dance, EBM & industrial to name a few. They have worked with artists such as Curses, Theus Mago, Rodion, Alejandro Paz, Kalipo, Mijo, Thomass Jackson, Skelesys & many more.

They plan to continue along these roads of success as the label will represent music in same vain, building on their fruitful past. No doubt a rock solid label to keep your ears and eyes on in 2021 and beyond. Look out for the new single which will be released on a strictly limited dubplate 12” and on all digital platforms.
