Press Info:
A project 18-months in the making, Marcel Fengler presents IMF10, a three-part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label Index Marcel Fengler.

After a big period of change in the career of label head Marcel Fengler throughout 2016 that naturally involved IMF, it’s time to distill the label’s vision in sonic form. IMF10 is a collection of exclusive originals and remixes created by some of electronic music’s most skilled producers, alongside contributions from rising talents who are set to shape the direction of the label for years to come.

Split into three parts to be released throughout the first half of 2018, each volume consists of six tracks and encapsulates a different tone, highlighting not only the versatile sonic constellation of the label, but also the breadth Fengler enjoys exploring in his DJ sets.

Part one explores deeper and more hypnotic territory, as the legendary Alva Noto makes his debut for IMF re-working the Fengler classic ‘Sphinx’, alongside a new contribution from DIN, the lauded collaborative project between Fengler and Efdemin. Elsewhere close friends Matrixxman (in collaboration with rising producer Riccardo Limiti) and Lucy also join the compilation crafting powerful originals, alongside Scuba with a rework courtesy of his SCB project, plus a new track from exciting Slovenian talent Blaukoma who has impressed Fengler over time.

Separate features for Vinyl 2 & 3 and the digital edition see “related releases”.

Enidan

Press Info:
‘Dispersion’ is an EP deep in style, talent and wonder. Embellishing the underground kudos of Berlin-based techno DJ and producer AVION, owner of the hotly tipped, and renowned imprint Crossing, Dispersion is an eclectic mix of cerebral, uncompromising and colorful techno. Title track ‘Dispersion’ is a gleaming display of spacious dancefloor beats; melancholic, yet industrial. ‘Real’ is clinical, functional techno, emulating some of The Wizard’s influential magic. ‘Inverse’ blends together a contemporary approach to sonic aptitudes, while remaining a strictly dancefloor and body orientated, while ‘Enidan’ a colorful moment of ambient beauty, plays the EP out.

It is the first release on Marcel Fengler’s regarded, techno imprint IMF in 2017. ‘Dispersion’ is an ambitious, and unique EP, from a true underground –and mysterious – talent. The EP’s style embodies the bright, hypnotic and pulsing music that has characterized his releases to date on Crossing. Talking about the release, Fengler states, “He got my attention after some pretty strong releases on his own imprint Crossing. I felt that this was something I didn’t have on my label, but still reflected the idea of IMF.”

Format:

Tracklist:
01)
Push

02)
Rise

03)
Reflections

04)
The Hope

Press Info:
Thomas Hessler returns with his second full EP for IMF, with four tracks further establishing the on-the-rise German producer’s talent for sleek, agile techno. EP opener Push is the record’s most intense cut, brimming with a powerful intent that’s barely contained by the track’s dramatic surging synths. It’s followed by Rise, which matches its rhythmic urgency to an escalating melody that teases while it builds towards its cathartic ‘house lights up’ moment. The record’s B1 track, the aptly-titled Reflections, is the EP’s most contemplative, with an unwavering pulse underpinning a subtle rising-and-falling melody that always threatens to burst into technicolour before dipping back into darkness. Finally, EP closer The Hope may be optimistically named yet is conversely the track most likely to incite dancefloor panic, with a drum rhythm that bucks like a rodeo bull, to which your best course of action is to hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

Kyu EP

Label:
Index Marcel Fengler

Cat#:
IMF07

Release Date:
July 2016

Format:
vinyl & digital

Tracks:
A1.
Kyu

B1.
Shitau

B2.
Zen

Press Info (English):
Strength lies in calmness – and vice versa. Marcel Fengler offers three new inspirited and detailed musical pieces that protrude from the club context just as well as cater for your home stereo, picking up on the diverse musical moods defined by his debut album Fokus (Ostgut Ton, 2013) while concentrating on intertwining sound aesthetics.

With “Kyu” laid out on the A-side, this new 12″ starts off with a delicate yet muscular floor-pleaser – its subtle 4/4 rhythm is counteracted by lush claps on 2/4, but the true finesse comes in form of its varying rhythmic details, crisp hi-hats and underlying, subtle melodies, most notably the twirling organ trills, sustained synth pads and alienated shout outs.

“Shitau” on B1 picks up on these introverted and adoring musical moods with more organic bell percussion and swelling synth layers adding a more cinematic touch to the complex rhythm patterns—then pausing for a short dreamy break, gaining speed again before culminating in a grand finale. “Zen” follows up with intimate string arrangements until Fengler varies the tone and tempo with tribalist percussion and a lush kick drum.

This EP is an ideal companion, whether you’re pruning your bonsai or branching out a club set.

Remark NovaFuture Blog: This EP was originnaly set up to be released on Ostgut Ton.

out now: Zenker Brothers – Pollioni [Index Marcel Fengler]

Title:
Pollioni

Label:
Index Marcel Fengler

Cat#:

Release Date:

Format:
12″ & digital

Tracklist:
A1
Night Hustler

A2
Bias

B1
Karma Lounge
[feat. Philipp von Bergmann]

B2
Neunkeu

Press Info:
Munich’s Zenker Brothers arrive on Index Marcel Fengler for the first time with Pollioni, a four-track EP that captures the unique style that has brought the duo acclaim over a string of releases for Tresor and their own Ilian Tape label since they combined their considerable production talents as a dual force in dextrous, charismatic techno.

Each of Pollioni’s tracks eschew the standard four-four in favour of insistent beat patterns that service a maelstrom of rave era-indebted synths and tumescent basslines, working themselves into grooves with their own personality and once again showing the Zenker ability to forge techno that rises above the standard DJ tool style into something more characterful and lasting.

‘Night Hustler’ opens the A-side with a swinging, low-end-heavy groove that opens up for a sinister melody in the its second half. It’s followed by ‘Bias’, which builds rolling tribalistic drums around a slowly rising degraded synth line. B1 ‘Karma Lounge’ mines similar territory in the duo’s collaboration with Ilian Tape colleague Philipp Von Bergmann, before ‘Neunkeu’ closes the EP by establishing its place in the continuum with its hardcore stabs and a sci-fi acid backbone.
