Press Info:
Delsin are pleased to gather together some of the highlights from the rich and varied catalogue of Manchester-based producer Claro Intelecto. From his earliest works on Ai Records through a prolific run on Modern Love to his more recent outings on Delsin, Mark Stewart has continually presented a vision of electronic music that uses the Detroit blueprint as a launch pad for his own distinctive strain of techno. Moving from elegant beauty to rabid intensity while grounded by a firm sense of rhythm, his catalogue runs deep and wide. This expansive compilation filters out select highlights from across his discography, and reframes them as a compelling overview of a truly distinctive voice in modern electronic music.

Press Info:
Since the dawn of the Millennium, Claro Intelecto has beguiled listeners with his trademark brand of far-sighted electronic futurism – an atmospheric and otherworldly sound that reprocesses and repackages a multitude of influences drawn from three decades immersed in electronic music.

It seems fitting, then, that the latest Claro Intelecto outing – the first since the release of his Exhilirator album two years ago –was partly inspired by the formative years of the man behind the alias, Mark Stewart. Its’ title, “Forgotten Wasteland”, refers to the current state of the place where one of Manchester’s most influential underground clubs, the Thunderdome, once stood.

Stewart explores the impact and influence of this mythical club, and all that flowed from it, on EP opener “The Thunderdome”, a track whose industrial-strength beats, ragged acid lines, sci-fi bleeps and body-shaking sub-bass recall the raw and heavy techno music that emerged from the North of England in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. In contrast, the equally heavy and lo-fi “Sniffer Dogs” takes a more considered approach, with Stewart wrapping cinematic sweeps and dubbed-out electronics around a glitch-laden, Skam style experimental hip-hop groove.

On the flipside, Stewart begins with a far-sighted chunk of loose-limbed electro-techno fusion, “Messages”. Rhythmically punchy with the producer’s now familiar weighty analogue bass and raw riffs to the fore, the track’s fizzing melodic motifs and woozy pads recall hazy memories of sunrises spent stumbling between soundsystems at chilly free parties across the UK. The track’s increasing intensity is mirrored on EP closer “Sirens”, a druggy blast of rugged mid-tempo heaviness blessed with sun-bright blasts of synthesizer-driven bliss. It feels like a fittingly evocative conclusion to another standout outing from Claro Intelecto.

Press Info:
Delsin is proud to announce the release of a new long player from Manchester’s Claro Intelecto. Entitled Exhilarator and landing in November 2017, the 13 track album marks a return to action for the esteemed producer.

Claro Intelecto is Mark Stewart, an artist who has mixed up techno, house and IDM into his own unique forms since 2003. Modern Love and Delsin have been his primary homes, and the latter continues to keep his debut EP, Peace of Mind, on the shelves as demand has never waned since first reissuing it in 2012. Stewart’s last creative period from 2011 to 2013 saw him put out a couple of EPs as well as the Reform Club album in 2012 and tour dates round the world.

But now he is back with renewed motivation and clarity and has set about making music with more variation and less concern for what people might expect from him. The result is another cinematic album of icy techno, weighty bass and poignant melody.

From plaintive keys and slow motion drums awash with melody to corrugated industrial drums that don’t let up, this is a diverse album in both mood and texture. Moments of ambient celestial beauty exist next to breezy and summery grooves while skewed and sludgy acid sits next to serene underwater dub. All in all, then, Stewart’s mission to step outside his usual self has resulted in another landmark electronic album.

Press Info:
Berlin based Brit BNJMN returns to Delsin for an intriguing 10 track techno masterclass entitled ‘Hypnagogia’, his first album since 2011.

After making his debut on the label in 2014, Berlin based Brit BNJMN returns to Delsin to release his latest artist album, Hypnagogia. This album comes after years of experimenting but is the first time since his Black Square album on Rush Hour in 2011 that the artist has felt he has finished a cohesive body of work.

Hypnagogia is BNJMN’s third album in all, but first on this label after EPs like Coil and Amygdala—and his techno banger ‘Droid’ on the Inertia series—helped establish him as one of techno’s most interesting voices. Albums allow him to be more musically free and explore more ideas than 12”s, which are often recorded quicker and only capture a glimpse of his creativity. In the years since his last full length, the artist born Ben Thomas has done everything from strangely melodic music to darker dronelike pieces and uplifting, lighter techno.

Written in two separate studios in Berlin; one small, one much larger, which you can hear in how some tracks are tighter and more intimate, and some are more expansive and dynamicis influenced by the feeling of hypnagogia. “I’m often quite lucid at night time and I feel a lot of my ideas come from those experiences, so I wanted to present an album that sounds more dreamlike than some of my previous works.”

It results in ten tracks of atmospheric techno that ranges from deeply comforting to turbulent and edgy. There are moments of beautiful ambient reflection on tracks like ‘Glowed’ and ‘Over White Peaks’, plenty of the unique sense of melody BNJMN is known for as well as hypnotic tracks that trap you in a trance. Tracks like ‘Theta Wave’ show BNJMN is always conjuring up unique patterns and beguiling textures, while ‘Hypnagogia Pt 2’ is built on the sort of drum programming that will always lock in the floor.

Though a long time has passed and he has grown plenty since his last record, there is still a common thread that unites all BNJMN’s music: melody and texture are key, but the dance floor is also always in mind.

Press Info:
Back in March 2003 Claro Intelecto announced his arrival in the electronic world with his Peace Of Mind EP on Ai Records. Now, a decade later, Delsin, the label on which he released his latest LP, is re-releasing it in all its glory. Across four perfectly formed tracks the EP proved Manchester’s Mark Stewart to have a fine grasp on techno, electro and dub, and that he was able to do his own unique things with each.

Arguably the most well known cut from the EP is ‘Peace of Mind (Electrosoul)’, a busy bit of chattery house-come-electro that is wired up with many zithering melody lines and Claro’s trademark lush strings. ‘Tone’ is then a much more frazzled and aggressive bit of techno with raw, slapping percussion, gurgling synth lines and plenty of dystopian electro vibes. ‘Contact’ then settles into a deep, dubby, spacious groove with airy hi hats and a delightful bassline and carries you along effortlessly, and final track ‘Signifier’ closes things out in beautifully serene style with ambient swirling pads, organic synths and a curious bassline that rises and falls like the tide. Seminal stuff that still fetches a high price on Discogs, it was the start of a remarkable career for Claro Intelecto.
