Press Info:
Throbbing Gristle’s Live at the Volksbühne Berlin, New Year’s Eve 2005 has been announced as as a stand-alone vinyl, CD and digital release, due out via Mute on 16 May 2025.
The 11-track live album was originally available on the recent acclaimed box set, TG Berlin, which chronicled unreleased work recorded around a series of live events curated by the band at the Berlin Volksbühne in 2005/2006.
Recorded 20 years ago at the New Year’s Eve show at the Volksbühne, the album previewed five songs from Part Two: The Endless Not, the band’s first album in 27 years, several years before its release. The set – described by Uncut as “magisterial” – also included ‘Convincing People’, ‘Slug Bait’, and ‘Hamburger Lady’ (their first encore in 25/26 years, and what an encore!) – tracks that had lost none of their potency in the intervening years.
The box set – which comprises of 4 CDs, a Blu-ray, a 10” vinyl and a booklet featuring unseen photographs from the time by Paul Heartfield as well as a specially commissioned piece of writing by the award winning Scottish visual artist Lucy McKenzie – includes two full performances from the event, alongside the TG Berlin Studio Session which is comprised of the final Throbbing Gristle single (two unreleased tracks, ‘Scabs & Saws’ and ‘Wotwududo’,) and an unreleased 48-minute piece titled ‘TG Berlin Studio Session 2005 – 2006’, recorded at Planet Roc studios during the time they were in the city. TG Berlin also includes the “rehearsal” for the improvised In The Shadow of the Sun, performance, giving two different perspectives on their soundtrack to Jarman’s work.
In 2004, Throbbing Gristle – Chris Carter, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (1950-2020) and Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson (1955-2010) – regrouped and the following six years became a period of renewed creativity for the band. Back in the studio after 20 years, they found group intuition when performing was intact, and their ability to break down barriers and forge connections with an audience was more powerful than ever.
TG Berlin and Live at the Volksbühne Berlin, New Year’s Eve 2005 are the latest releases in an ongoing collaboration with Mute, compelling documents of Throbbing Gristle performing and recording as a four-piece with a renewed vigour. From the opening beats and serrated electronics of one of their final tracks recorded together, ‘Scabs & Saws’, it’s clear that TG are not revisiting ground already tread, but bringing two decades of individual experience back into the studio to create a new exploration of sound. The vocals have a different depth, the groove is deeper, and the atmosphere has lost none of its potency.

Sopht was never planned—it just happened, like a spark suddenly catching fire. One day in Berlin, Rae Spoon visited the studio. Alex played some of their tracks, Lianne Hall listened—and something shifted within her. That same day, she wrote lyrics and recorded vocals for three songs. From that moment on, the music just flowed.
Sopht is the non-binary pop project of musician Alexandre Decoupigny, now evolving into an open collaboration with renowned artist Lianne Hall. What began as Alex’s deeply personal solo project—a space to process profound transformation, gender discovery, ADHD, and complex love—has grown into Sopht Power, their first album together.
As non-binary elders in electronic music, Alex and Lianne weave shimmering, emotionally charged productions with haunting vocals and fearless old-school spirit. Their sound is both delicate and powerful, danceable yet deeply moving—music that invites listeners to pause, feel, and transform.
Together with visual artists Cyndcore and Aidan Rolls, they are creating Sopht World—an immersive, multimedia space where softness becomes strength and resilience is celebrated. Their debut EP will be released on Ickmachwelle Records, where Alex also works as a mentor and producer—marking the beginning of a new era of bold, emotional electronic pop music.
Press Info:
South London sibling duo PUNCHBAG today announce their debut EP ‘I’m Not Your Punchbag’ – out 2 May 2025 via Mute.
The announcement follows last month’s buzzy debut single ‘Fuck It’, a boundary-pushing pop storm, described by Stereogum as “Icona Pop’s “I Love It” colliding with Basement Jaxx’s “Where’s Your Head At” — multiple kinds of maximalism aligning for a song that grabs you via sheer bombast”. The track was released alongside an eye-catching video directed by Joe Gainsborough, introducing the duo with a grand wash of entrancing synths and piercing beats.
The EP’s title track ‘I’m Not Your Punchbag’ is a combative cut of razor-sharp pop that offers a message of defiance. “It comes from a ‘harmless’ small remark made to me at a dinner table once that really cut deep,” says Clara. “From this small seed, if you like, the song grew into a kind of anthem for fighting back – a refusal to let people dump their shit on you.”
It was after writing it that they realised that PUNCHBAG made a good band name. “This song helps explain the band name and our ethos,” Clara continues. “It’s something to scream along to; a perfect therapy. ‘Don’t take it out on me, bitch!’”
––
Swinging between dizzying extremes, where unapologetically sugar-sweet pop hooks clash with radical leftfield production, PUNCHBAG (consisting of Clara and Anders Bach) are a compelling proposition.
Whispers of PUNCHBAG’s knock-out live performances have been growing in volume since they played their first show in the spring of 2024. Colliding the raw unfiltered energy of punk with the overflowing ecstasy of pop, from the off they demonstrated an uncanny skill for commanding a crowd. “We take it seriously,” says Clara. “We’ve thought about it a lot, and it was important that from the first time we performed it was fully formed. We’re Virgos. We’re perfectionists.”
This steeliness is paired with a chaotic stage presence, defined by improvisatory dance moves and an infectious energy. “At the end of the set, I just scream until everyone’s jumping,” she says. “We want it to be cathartic, but also really joyful. Joy is one of the things that you can’t really argue with, it’s not an opinion – you can either get involved or not.”
“We’d rather someone had a strong adverse reaction to our music than it be just played in the background,” says Anders. He needn’t worry, of course – PUNCHBAG’s chaotic and utterly cathartic forthcoming debut EP is guaranteed to grab attention.
PUNCHBAG play Ritual Union Festival in Bristol on 29 March before playing The Great Escape in May. Follow PUNCHBAG on Instagram for news of more live shows in the coming months.
New single ‘I’m Not Your Punchbag’ is out now on Mute.
Press Info:
After seeing Tbilisi dogs barking at the cops during the ongoing massive protests against the newly “elected” government on every videos, I discovered last Christmas that this behavior is a global phenomenon.
Stray dogs do love a riot and somehow always side against authority.
this EP celebrates four of them that became symbols of civil unrests and fights for social justice.
“Side A” is dedicated to Chilean dogs Vaquilla and El negro matapacos and is inspired by early EBM cooked with my own techno twist.
Vocals are forward with lyrics being in Spanish and french
“Side B” is about greek dogs Kanellos and Loukanikos with the later of them being nominated for person of the year in 2011 by Time magazine…
Loukanikos track is my own blend of industrial metal techno with some trap elements that I’ve been experimenting with on my two Bloc Noir albums .
Kanellos goes into wave territories faster but softer than the rest of the EP with some post punk influences and vocoded vocals.
