The creation of ‘Chrysalis’ was a retreat from a seemingly endless string of unfortunate events, a cocoon from which Zanias could weave hope from hopelessness. In each of its eight songs she has engineered unique worlds to express alternate facets of the modern human experience, from burnout and the toxicity of capitalism to processing death and the inherent isolation of personal trauma.
Written and recorded between Berlin and the rainforest of Queensland, Australia, the sound design of ‘Chrysalis’ reflects the rich biodiversity of the latter environment, where she drew much of her inspiration. Her voice shifts and morphs into ghostly, alien forms between catchy hooks that plant this album firmly in the ‘pop’ genre, without losing the underground rawness and lyrical depth for which she is known.
With her third full-length album, Zanias is expressing her truest form thus far, fusing her seemingly discordant influences into a genre-defying electronic artpop, as dark and evocative as it is ethereal and uplifting.

This is the album that put Ben Watkins on the map and showed the world what goa-trance is all about. Featuring the classic tracks “High Energy Protons” and “Laughing Gas,” Transmissions is an important piece in the history of electronic music. Its timeless compositions show no signs of aging in the past 15 years since it was originally released in 1993. Oktober auf Anachron Sounds (Europa) und Metropolis Records (Nordamerika) veröffentlicht. Gleichzeitig startet die VNV NATION Europa und Nord-Amerika Tournee. Mastermind von VNV Nation ist der in Dublin geborene Ronan Harris, er beschreibt “Noire” als eine “dunkle und intensive Energie, die sich nicht zurückhält”.
NOIRE ist das erste Studioalbum von VNV Nation in 5 Jahren, das im Studio von Ronan Harris in Hamburg produziert wurde. Der Sound Stil des Albums ist weitreichend und besticht mit dunklen und unheilvollen Momenten auf Tracks wie “A Million” oder dem symphonischen “All our Sins”, aber auch mit melodischem Songs wie das hypnotisch-treibende “When is the Future?” und “God of all”. Eine Mischung aus klassischer sowie neuer Studiotechnik wurde bei der Produktion verwendet, um die fast 74 Minuten / 13 Songs von „Noire“ sorgfältig zu komponieren. Legendary electronic act VNV Nation has big news for fans – NOIRE, the highly-anticipated 10th studio album, is out on Anachron Sounds (Europe), and Metropolis Records (North America), on October 12th, the day they embark on a world tour, which kicks off in North America on November 16, 2018. VNV’s creative-force, Dublin-born Ronan Harris, describes “Noire” as a “dark and intense energy that doesn’t hold back.”
NOIRE is VNV Nation’s first studio album in 5 years. It was produced at Ronan Harris’ studio in Hamburg, Germany. The sound and style of the album is far-reaching with dark and ominous moments on tracks like “A million” to something symphonic like “All our sins”, to more melodic territory like “When is the future” and “God of all.” A juxtaposition of classic and new studio technology was used to painstakingly craft NOIRE’s nearly 74 minutes / 13 songs. NOIRE draws on a wealth of musical influences; from the bleaker, darker side of today’s dance music, all the way back to avant-garde composers from the end of the 19th century. Originally formed as a solo project by Dominik R. in 2004, Fredrik was added to the Menschdefekt line-up in 2009. Influenced by different genres such as Trance, FuturePop and others, the band’s sound is a fusion of Electro, Industrial and Goth with aggressive vocals that reflect their socially critical and provocative lyrics. As their namesake implies, their music focuses on topics of war, nationalism/ fascism, murder, consumer consumption and our wasteful society.
Menschdefekt’s first album, Realitaetsverlust, was produced and distributed in 2006, as a result of a friend´s request. Their second album, Degeneration, with even clearer song-structures and a more sophisticated sound, followed in the middle of 2007.
2008 was a big year for Menschdefekt. They won the Aesthetic Perfection Remix Contest to have their remix of “Schadenfreude” on Aesthetic Perfection’s A Violent Emotion bonus CD, and they released their Psych[a]otica EP. In addition, the band recorded their breakthrough hit “Stalingrad” in cooperation with Stahlnebel and Black Selket. The track found its way onto dance floors world wide, as well as spots on internet radio, and compilations such as Interbreeding X (BLC Productions) and Endzeit Bunkertracks Act IV (Alfa Matrix Label Group).
Their success in 2008 brought them to the attention of Infacted Recordings in Europe and Metropolis Records in North America who signed them to release their third album, The Human Parasite in 2010. With The Human Parasite, Menschdefekt has laid out its manifesto, and done so with driving force. In Japan there will be a special limited edition with bonus tracks released on Deathwatch Asia.
