Press Info:
For the next BITE release, techno legend Adam X makes a rare appearance outside his own seminal Sonic Groove Records with a new EP Midnight Sun, following up last year’s album Recon Mission. The NYC electronic music pioneer displays his singular approach to the dancefloor by combining old school, bass heavy grooves with forward-thinking cybernetic sound design. Throughout the EP, he lays out the concept of a dystopian timeline in which the Earth is knocked off orbit. Panic ensues as the earth moves closer towards the sun, annihilating all.

The title track starts off in classic Adam X form with driving bass, vocal snippets, and New York style percussive rolls, but it gradually develops into new territory with psychedelic synth sequences and atmospheres that portray impending doom. “The Dead of Dawn” drops off with broken rhythms and bleep sequences before blasting off with huge siren samples. On the flip side, “The Evacuation” would fit perfectly at home in one of Adam’s Storm Raves in NYC from the 90s. Huge, propulsive kicks perfectly meld with 16th note basslines balanced by dubbed out hihats and melodies. The production is always heavy but never static, dense and powerful but always extremely clear and direct, tailored precisely for world class sound systems and clubs. Midnight Sun is another example of why he is credited as one of the godfathers to the current wave of hard and industrial-inspired techno.

Press Info:
Unhuman presents his most dancefloor sculpted EP yet for BITE. Following a natural evolution from his roots in post-punk to experimental and noise through electro-mutant-infused techno, Manos Simotas finds himself diving into uncharted territory. As a regular mainstay of major clubs in Berlin and globally (even holding a residency at Constant Value in Seoul), Unhuman is also the founder of Liber Null Berlin, which has played a critical role for many years unifying the freedom of arts through conceptual event series in the scene.

On Nylon Speech, he finds an amalgamation between industrial techno and bass music, which spurs an entirely new and forward sound designed to both move and confront the listener. Geared for the club, “Rapid Body Corruption” drives forward with ripping bass drones, while the title track takes for a more mental approach that distorts reality. “Abdominal Pain” exemplifies the bass influences with a slow industrial dirge. On the closer “Seuche” guests batcave mainstay Petra Flurr on vocals tying together the ground influences of the project itself. With a genre-bending array in just 4 tracks, Nylon Speech focuses in on pure electronic action.

Press Info:
BITE presents as its 7th release Will To Destroy: a collaboration by Berlin underground techno heavyweights Sarin and Imperial Black Unit. Sarin, the project of Emad Dabiri, previously released on the label last year with the Kuleshov Effect EP and now offers again his bassline heavy groove and sonic signature. Meanwhile, Imperial Black Unit is a technoid duo originally from Toulouse formed by Pablo Bozzi and Thomas Chalandon. With their sharp synths and metallic rhythms on top of growls that could evoke black metal atmospheres, they complete this remarkable record that reaches from slow, new beat alike compositions to peaktime anthems making Will To Destroy an effective ammunition.

Tracklist:

Plastic Motion

B1.
Confess

B2.
Tausend Heilige

Press Info:
Phase Fatale (Hayden Payne) and Silent Servant (Juan Mendez) started their collaboration in 2016 performing together live at several Jealous God showcases across Europe, such as Berlin Atonal, and then working together on Payne’s Redeemer Extended Mix 12” from his album on Hospital Productions last year. The Confess EP on BITE is a studio documentation of those aforementioned live performances and harnesses the cathartic energy of the stage into a physical medium.

The EP opens up with “Plastic Motion,” a techno track that is full of layers of subsonic pulsations, monolithically consuming the entire A-side. The sounds of the sirens are balanced against heavily stylized basslines moving in and out of the framework while bursts of white noise appear through the fog, creating a telekinetic hallucination. The B-side starts with the title track “Confess.” A ruthless song that crushes together bass-heavy broken beat rhythms with straight-ahead kicks and snares. It’s about to burst out of its seams any minute as psychedelic synths and buried vocals command it all to stay together.

The closing track, “Tausend Heilige,” ups the pace to a motorik rhythm, driving underneath the wings of metallic synths and steady pounding drums. Meanwhile, the lamenting choir strings and dusty vocals swell to a stuttering electric signal. With the three tracks from the Confess EP, Phase Fatale and Silent Servant create a cinematic soundscape that has shed its skin and has brought to life a new interpretation of contemporary techno music.
