Press Info:
Brothers Black return with New York family label Safer At Night for a Safer At Night x Brothers Black collaborative vinyl release.

E-150
Brothers Black kick off the EP with E-150, a bold, futuristic techno exploration that takes them away from the dance floor. Combining distorted, off-kilter rhythms with luscious space-age pads, they set a unique tone for the EP.

E-150 (Cosmin TRG Remix)
On remix duties is highly acclaimed producer and DJ, Cosmin TRG. Known for his trademark production style, Cosmin delivers a clubfocussed remix that draws on the original. Mixing a tight, hypnotic groove with the sampled pads of the original, Cosmin’s remix brings out his UK influences with hints of 90s nostalgia.

Identity Crisis
For the B-side Brothers Black return to a dance-floor focus with Identity Crisis. Combining a galloping groove with FM bells and a haunting pad, this melodic tool is perfect for any time of the night.

There’s No Turning Back
In keeping with trademark Safer At Night release formatting, the Brothers deliver There’s No Turning Back, an emotive ambient piece. Combining classic percussion and rich pads, the B2 creates a nostalgic tone to round off the EP.

B1)
Masque

B2)
Perspectives (1 & 2)

Press Info:
The second release on Sbire furthers the on-going collaboration between label co-founder Gaspard de La Montagne and Nathan Baumann. ‘Spectres’ is a bold, seductive and wonderfully-unhurried record which shows the breadth of the Sbire sound world.

The title track is orchestral and profoundly alluring, with an earworm bassline creeping out from behind the kick drum’s refined thud. You’re pulled further in by the lengthy intro of ‘Aube’, where floating pads, draw from the instrumental flair of classical music. Mid-way through they give way to a stripped-back bassline, exemplifying the nature of this collaboration.

B-side opener ’Masque’ has harmonic beams of light swirling over its foundations. The melodies transfix and the drums keep time. ‘Perspective 1&2’ occupies a thin veil of haze, tempering the beat and bringing out the groove in the baggy percussion. In fitting style, it ends a record whose grace comes in the striking interactions between elements far-removed.

Tessela

Press Info:
Berlin based Lars Huismann returns to Animal Farm Records for our second outing of the year, with his powerful ‘Exoplanet’ EP. After being introduced to his uncompromising sound on last year’s ‘Juggernaut’ we are proud to welcome Lars back into the fold with four new cuts of disciplined techno excursions.

Title track ‘Exoplanet’ explores ambient soundscapes, showing Lars’ progression as a producer – the synth tones are meditative, but industrialised drum tones craft this into a perfect set opener. ’Stratosphere’ is the record’s heaviest selection, showing Huismann’s expert ear for peak time workouts. The kicks & percussion are relentless, with a swinging, modulating synth line that lends the production just the right amount of swing.

The maschine funk of ’Stratosphere’ is flipped on its head by another AFR favourite – Italian producer Kaiser, whose addition of pensive, cleansing synths on his remix cast the track as a peak time bomb in an entirely different light.

‘Tessela’ sees Lars experiment with off-kilter textures. Atonal frequencies and cascading tones are tied together by his ever-present attention to groove, shaping this into a heady yet powerful dancefloor stepper.

Press Info:
Dekmantel regular Matrixxman returns with the third, and final instalment in the Sector series, Part III: Polyphony. In this triptych, the producer from San Fransisco sets out to highlight the key components behind the sounds and style of techno, exploring the range within the confines of a particular limitation. Following Parts I and II, which looked at Rhythm, and Acid, Charles McCloud Duff charters the realm of Polyphony with four, meticulously produced techno tracks, expanding his repertoire of cult, dancefloor music.

Polyphony refers to the simultaneous combining of many notes in a musical sequence. In electronic music, this specifically refers to the role of the synthesiser – such as the Minimoog, ARP Odyssey, which can produce different pitches simultaneously. Polyphony has been an integral characteristic of the genre’s sound for over a quarter of a century, and can be heard in many key records, living a the sonic forefront of these four tracks.

”Sector Series: III Polyphony” provides an exercise in melody and polyphony. Throughout the EP, swaggering rhythms are inter-washed with a sea of multi-melodious, reverberated notation. ‘Initiation’ resonates with the grandiosity, and harsh claustrophobia of early Underground Resistance. ‘Access Granted’, drives hard with pulsing effects, with a dystopic, rhythmic cacophony of euphony. ‘Desert Planet’ plays around with a differing tempo, imagining a more fantastical vision of music, echoing back to earlier Plastikman productions, using a vast sonic spectrum to conjure up a colour palette of alien imagery. ‘Horizon’ rounds things off; a track that builds on minimalism with a progressive composition, allowing the polyphonics to drive the track, harnessing the adept production qualities that Matrixxman has come to be recognised for.

Dresden based film sound artist Bony Stoev and Alex Tasso aka Submoon open the 4th edition of Etui Winter Camp with heart warming ambient tracks.

Echo expert Monomood dives deep into an ocean of chords with his “Fall” and label mind Insect O. takes you to the mystical “Forest Of The Monkeys”. After strolling around you find yourself lost in the soundscapes of El Choop’s “Narrow Pulse” and Infinitedub’s “Pulse Storm”. Bristol meets Malta. Not enough of chords? Screaming synths wake you up in Planetary Secret 90’s techno interpretation “Offshore Platform”. It’s time to move!

Alek S is no stranger to dub techno lovers around the world. His “Cream” sounds like dancing ice crystals. Leipzig based modular techno head Markus Masuhr experiments with hypnotizing drone sounds in his “Stages Of The Ocean” and Phil Baenz delivers some analog techno for the dancefloor with his “Isslag”. Finally made of CONCRETE label heads Rebar prove with their “Morning Routine” the best thing to do in a cold winter night is to dance your shoes off in the strobe lights of a techno club.

Founded by Oliver Hartmann (aka Insect O.) in 1998 Etui Records has been released 28 vinyl releases, 6 compilations and several digital only releases. In 2011 Etui started the new vinyl series Etui Low Tech Dub to focus on the deep and dubby side of techno and transfer it into an up-to-date audioframe.
