Thinking In Code

B2.
Final Sequence

Press Info:
A multifaceted debut EP from the Berlin-based producer Crore

The record starts off with “Ultraviolence“, a stomping acid workout, climaxing with the help of sharp hi-hats and its smooth but effective arrangement.

On the flip side, the less pragmatic “Thinking In Code“ renounces the 4/4 kick and works more subtle while diving into the deeper spheres of contemporary techno music.

Spheric pads meet a pulsating synth in the “Final Sequence“ and create a fuzzy and uncanny atmosphere.

Sonic weapons for a wide range of club settings.

Crore
Crore is the techno project by the Berlin based producer Evgeny St. Born in Russia and raised in the german capital he quickly got attracted by the cities techno-hotspots and spent many nights under their strobes before relocating to the other side of the booth.

After being active on the local scene for many years and organizing underground raves in his hometown he founded his own imprint Vision Conflict in 2019, which bridges the gap between club oriented tracks and less functional electronics.

His sound oscillates among powerful acid baselines, spheric pads and raw percussion as he is always relying on his intuition for grooves.

Vision Conflict
Vision Conflict was founded in 2019 by Crore. Although the label is rooted in the rave culture its goal is not only to please the dance floors but also be a platform for more sophisticated and experimental productions. With this eclectic approach it wants to give upcoming artists a communication platform and has already several releases lined up for 2019 with the first EP being released in June on vinyl and digitally.

Tracklist:
A.
The Light Touch

B1.
Seel

B2.
Mixen

Press Info:
Caustic, dense and centred around complex but exquisitely executed percussive motifs and driven, rising sequences – many would argue an alliance between Shifted’s heady, monochrome recordings and Lucy’s beloved Stroboscopic Artefacts label is long overdue. The music draws on much of the British producer’s previous work, assembled carefully using a characteristic sonic palette – but as ever, Brewer finds fresh space between sounds – showing off a tentatively more extroverted side to his work.

Title track The Light Touch is perhaps one of Shifted’s more idiosyncratic pieces. Instantly recognisable with it’s heavily granular finish and subtle shifts in delay and reverb composition, the track is rich with groove and moves relentlessly across it’s five minute run time.

Seel showcases the artist’s talent for building tension with minimal elements – built around a single warping lead, noise tracks drift in and out of the mix to generate effective builds and subtle releases. EP closer, Mixen, riffs on it’s predecessor’s approach but strips back the percussive elements further and ups the ante with searing drone signals rising up above the lead sequence driving the track.

As ever, Brewer’s musical output looks to the heart of the genre – remaining true to purist sensibilities that favour economy of sonic components and studio prowess over unnecessary fanfare, but all the while forging new ground & refining a genuinely personal aesthetic. A powerful debut on a label in fine form that represents some of the best of the British artist’s work.

A2.
Phantasmal

B1.
Insight

B2.
Sakebi

Press Info:
Belgian native Border One returns to Wolfskuil Records for his second EP. Steven Petit has build a solid reputation for himself as an pure and talented techno producer in just a few years. His music has been rinsed by the who’s who on the circuit. On the Insight EP he offers 4 distinct, diverse but intrically linked cuts in which his modular driven sound reached his full potential.

The EP kicks off with Moon, a relentless tune with a simple but catchy hook and minimalistic shuffling drum patterns that will drive any floor into a frenzy. Phantasmal takes things down a notch with a bleepy affair and thumping kickdrums.

On the flip the title track Insight take things up a notch using the main theme as a sonic elastic, fading in and out without ever reaching an ultimate climax. It’s the understated use of just a few elements, that make it hightly addictive. The twelve finds it’s epic closer in Sakebi. Beautiful dark string chords create an emotional undertone like the sometimes traumatic transition from the night into the day.

Press Info:
Nocturnal Frequencies White Series is a selection of evocative techno primarily heeding its metaphorical significance. All tracks are, in one way or another, in relation to landscape music. The key is the ambiance. Ambient music surely constitutes the essence of landscape music. This compilation is made of successive landscapes: from the sweetest to the hardest, from the darkest to the brightest, from the lightest to the most oppressive one. This is a journey to listen to in one go and thus, in the midst of each of these sound landscapes, the presence of a vague human shape shall be felt.
