This month’s event is going to be a very special one. The fourth release on the label is hitting the stores and this is something we need to celebrate with you. For this special occasion we invited Under Black Helmet and Opål, who is also in charge of the new release.
Lithuanian artist Under Black Helmet, is a rising force in the dark art of industrial-laced techno. A protegee of Moerbeck’s expanding Code Is Law platform, the artist’s current surge into the shadowy realm of dance music has been further supported by Bas Mooy’s MORD label, setting up the producer as a fresh authority to be reckoned with. His bookings fall in alongside artists such as Dax J, Phase Fatale, Stanislav Tolkachev and Kobosil at all manner of venues across Europe. With his music already supported by the likes of Jeff Mills, Tommy Four Seven and Rebekah, the looming presence of Under Black Helmet is proliferating the warehouses and darkened corners of contemporary techno.
Opål, the new member of the counterweight family, is a DJ and producer that blends hypnotic, energizing techno with industrial analog elements. Often his sound is characterized by heavy kick drums, rapid hi- hats and evolving bass-lines. Growing up in the Berlin of the 90s, he has witnessed the change of Techno and is inspired from each era. With this musical background and through mixing analog and digital elements in the production process it has allowed him to create a distinct sound. Opål, like the multi colored Opal-stone the name is derived from, brings many different facets of modern electronic music to the table and underlines, that he doesn‘t only understand heavy industrial high energy techno, but also the more sophisticated and subtle aspects of electronic music. Whoever witnessed his first visit to Munich knows what we are talking about…
And of course, to complete the roster, the Counterweight residents Marco H and Gonzo MDF will take care of the warm-up and closing, so you know this will be a long, hard-hitting, filthy and naughty night.
