Belgian artist SIWEI releases FSBP as a follow up to his IFLN releases. 22-year-old Robin Singulé, currently hailing from Antwerp, has a refined sound in a constant state of flux as this new EP laments.
Being on the paradoxically moody yet punch worthy sound spectrum, this is one for in-the-know patrons of the scene.
Vicious breaks, curiosity, and a lulled path down a drippy conforming low end describes the layer cake that makes up this intricately textured release. As is characteristic of his past sound, SIWEI leaves you eased, wondering and wanting. His unbridled love of toying on a modular rack and playing with the guitar shine through and lead the listener through a setting where one can easily imagine a feline-like agility to the switches in tone and pace of the pieces. It’s familiar, and yet he adds a narrative of sound to define each release in its own right. It’s gritty, it’s reminiscent and refreshing.
