Second Skin is Spanish producers Psyk and Oscar Mulero with their first release for James Ruskin’s Blueprint.

These two prolific figures of the Techno scene will already be known to many. Oscar Mulero has run his own label, Warm Up since 2000 and PoleGroup Records since 2004, as well as releasing more recently on the likes of Token and Semantica. Meanwhile, Psyk launched his Non Series imprint in 2011 and has graced other labels including Mote-Evolver, Tresor, and Semantica (like Oscar). Of course, both artists boast a heavy DJ schedule with sets across the globe.
Joining forces under the name Second Skin, they are resolute for this next Blueprint release. The tracks range from the techno tribalism of ‘Bare Hands’;, the pitch-black ‘Sense of Purpose’ and driving ‘Reformed Theology’, to the hypnotic ‘No Escape’.

Includes the original release from Ferrer & Sydenham Inc. and also Âme’s four remixes, that span a range of house moods and grooves, from beatless excursions to Sonar Kollektiv dance floor subtleties, laced with thick electronic percussion and a minimal mentality (released on TIB006 & IRC078).

TIB006 text: Timbuktu’ sees long-time associates Ferrer and Sydenham going out with some techy house flavors on Ibadan, with a solid groove joined by a sublime synth stab and some great chant snippets, while a driving bassline and great percussion elements fatten out the track nicely. Two mixes here, and there’s really nothing to choose between them, so we’ll let you decide your favorite.

Amotik teams up with Deluka for a split techno 12” on new imprint AMTK+

Having released his own music for several years on his self-titled label, Berlin-based DJ/producer Amotik presents AMTK+, a new extension of the imprint focussed on featuring other artists via split-EPs. Leading this new series is an EP from Italian-born producer Deluka and Amotik himself, a four-track offering of stripped-back, hypnotic, driving and meditative techno from two artists at the top of their game.

“I was given many opportunities from kind people around me when I first moved to Berlin and started my own label, so I’ve been wanting to be able to collaborate with others for some time now. Having recently quit my day job, I finally have the time and energy to work on this project and focus on A+R. I always get sent such amazing music from producers to play in my DJ sets, and the idea behind the sub-label is to create a solid community of like-minded artists who I fully believe in and whose music has resonated with me over the years.

As this project is a labour of love, I know all artists personally in some way, so it’s very important to me that this is not just another record label but also the forming of a collective of like-minded souls with a shared musical vision. All releases have been tried and tested over and over again in my DJ sets, so I’m really excited to present this new project and share the music that I love. If you’ve heard any of my DJ sets over the last year, you will have heard these tracks before” – Amotik.
