About the concept:
Here is the sixty-seventh instalment of our series “abc plays xyz”.
The idea behind it is to ask some DJs/mixing artists if they have an artist or label in mind that they love and would like to use for a mix.
So the approach of each mix is clear: the choosen DJ/mixing artist makes a selection of tracks produced by one artist (and her/his monikers) or released on a label (and its sublabels) and creates a nice mix from it.

About Tap Newo:
22 year old techno artist coming up in the Los Angeles warehouse techno scene. In 2018 I’ve gained support from outlets such as XLR8R, Change-Underground, Data Transmission, and 6am Group. My background is as a recording studio mix engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Sound Engineering and I currently spend most of my time in the studio working on productions. My music style could be considered a reflection of the streets of Los Angeles – deep atmospheres layered with grimy aggression.
About I Hate Models:
Pushed in front of the scene late in 2016 with his Warehouse Memories EP released on ARTS, “I Hate Models” has known an eye-popping ascent. With a variety of releases on labels such as ARTS, Voitax, T/W/B or Pls.uk, he is as eclectic in his productions as in his DJ sets, and navigates between Rave music, Industrial sounds or EBMish productions. He tries to not limit himself to a specifical genre, exploring all electronic universes, and succeeded to create a certain “touch” recognisable in his tracks, with an association between emotional synths and colder sounds. With an artistic line based on the expression of melancholia and intense emotions, his music can be characterised by a showdown between Love and Hate, Darkness and Light.

Tap Newo About His Choice:
I chose to mix I Hate Models due to how original his style is. He inspires me to think outside the box without thinking about other people’s opinions because I know he likes his music whether other people do or not. It is my goal to find my own lane within this massive scene that is techno. I admire the fact I Hate Models takes inspiration from other genres like ambient and synthwave. His come up over the last 2 years has been really impressive which has seriously lit a fire under my feet regarding my own career… if I Hate Models can make it, so can I.
