Info :
Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver label pushes on to its fourteenth release with the momentum firmly behind them. With Cari Lekebusch’s “Spindizzy” release riding high in the sales charts and attracting wide praise and excitement.

Having taken care of business in spectacular fashion with his “Carnage” track on Mote-Evolver back in September, Ortin Cam is back with more of his trademark floor-shaking futuristic techno. An significant force within Belgium’s ever-reliable techno scene, Ortin Cam’s rousing music has led him to be a regular contributor for leading labels such as Drumcode and Invasion. This EP on Mote-Evolver is further evidence why Ortin Cam’s distinctive style is on the rise.

“Felt (Part 1)” is the sort of full-force techno which fans of previous Mote-Evolver release, Carnage will jump at. Heavily industrial with a knock-out kick drum the track progresses through a series of intensifying phases before bringing it all back together for a crescendo of disorientating madness.

“Inner City” rounds off the EP in fierce style with an almightily electro-techno
hybrid. Intense and insane, the combination of the unique rubbery-sounding main hook, scratchy white noise effects and epic production make this a standout track

“Felt (Part 2)” (digital only) retains the raw, industrial vibe evident in Part 1 but opts to channel the energy via a killer acid bassline. Pitched to a groovier tempo, the tracks more subtle approach, funky drum loops and arrangement still pack a massive punch.

23. November 2009

Tracklist:
01 X Speaks To X (Al Tourettes & Appleblim Remix)
02 Hold It (Deuce Remix)

Info :
Following the Planetary Assault Systems long player (Oton CD09 ), the most recent ouput from veteran electronic music figurehead Luke Slater’s most prominent alias, we continue the exploration into the outer limits with remixes by Al Tourettes & Appleblim, and Deuce.
Perveyors of the UK Dubstep / Techno hybrid, Bristol’s Al Tourettes and Appleblim contort and re-form “X Speaks To X” into a devious, hot-footed celebration of dark and intense broken-beat electronics. Tight, tensile and direct, the pair intwine suggestions of melody, thick synth patterns and shuddering sub-sonic bass lines around the heavy, morphing groove.
Deuce (or Bergahin residents Shed and Marcel Dettmann for those in the know) turn in their relentless yet smoothly rounded version of “Hold It” by building upon the same foundations that shaped their bass-heavy, purist debut on the label. Droning and phasing to the point of hypnosis, this reduced and pumping tool sums up the energy that drives both Shed and Dettmann during their appearances at Berghain. Honouring the original for its insight and clout, Deuce let the bass energy flow in abundace as their instictive arrangement unfolds.

Info :
The Berlin-based trio Solitary Experiments has long since understood the fact that good electronic music will require more than bringing together some synthesizer presets with some cuddly beats. Thus, on the new album „In The Eye Of The Beholder“, the band lays just as much emphasis on good song writing, catchy melodies and multi-faceted arrangements as on club-compatible beats and solid bass. The anthemic Electro-tracks keep the delicate balance between catchiness and a thorough dose of power that keeps them from ever drifting into Pop-muzak realms. Effectively carried by Dennis Schober’s warm voice and spiced up with a lot of emotional depth, “In The Eye Of The Beholder” becomes a picture perfect example of how intelligent electronic music in a field of tension between melody and club-appeal should sound. The album will be released as a double CD including a bonus disc with remixes, rarities and unreleased tracks. Club sounds with a lot of soul!

02 Spindizzy (L.B. Dub Corp Remix)

Info :
Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver label is not pulling any punches. Having shaken the techno scene to its boots last month with the release of Ortin Cam’s no-holes-barred “Carnage”, the label moves on to their funky 13th release.

The name Cari Lekebusch is synonymous with what has made techno the musical powerhouse that it has become. Globally recognized as a founding force behind the Swedish techno movement alongside the triumvirate of Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlbäck and Joel Mull, Lekebusch’s distinctive musical style and creative integrity has graced leading label from Drumcode to Soma to Harthouse and Turbo and spawned a career that has maintained over nearly two decades.

Spindizzy is a deftly crafted funked-up tech house track. Constructed from a palette of harmonically aligned keys, bass and horns; its intensity comes from the measured way in which each element is given the space to breath its own energy into the mix. Pacey but musical, subtle yet memorable; this is a standout record.

Luke Slater adding his bass sodden L.B Dub Corp twist to the track completes the package. Deeply dubbed-out tribal rhythms take the mix on a more left-of centre path that winds through a busy soundscape of atmospheric acoustics that seem to breathe in deeply before being exhaled in a release of firing percussion.
